Mission: To provide "shalva"--which means "peace of mind" in Hebrew--to Israel's mentally and physically challenged children and their families by --helping each child achieve his/her full potential through comprehensive, vanguard programs in a beautiful, caring environment, --providing needed respite and support to their families, enabling them raise their child at home, with their family, and thereby forego institutionalizing the child, --improving both the child's quality of life and that of the entire family,--advocating on behalf of mentally and challenged children and their families in Israel and the world, --providing research and training to enable others to duplicate the Shalva model and its programs--training volunteers to be effective in working with special needs children and to be exemplary, sensitive, caring individuals
