Causes: Food, Food Programs, Philanthropy, Public Foundations
Mission: To combat widespread nutritional insecurity in Israel through the rescue and redistribution of excess food, cooperative and advised purchasing, nutrition education, and capacity building projects for nonprofit organizations serving those at risk from all segments of Israeli society.
Results: Leket Israel addresses hunger and nutritional insecurity with a holistic vision, a dedicated professional team, thousands of volunteers, and a host of economically and environmentally sensible programs.
Target demographics: Hungry, nutritionally insecure Israelis from all segments of society. Demographics include a wide range of at-risk children to the invalid-elderly, among others.
Direct beneficiaries per year: 180 beneficiary nonprofit organizations (NPOs) receive weekly or daily deliveries of food and services free of charge through your support of Leket Israel. Among them include soup kitchens, shelters, schools, and community centers for the elderly serving tens of thousands of working poor, invalid-elderly, homeless, children, minorities, and at-risk population groups of all races and religions every year.
Programs: All grants are utilized for the purpose of supporting ongoing and extensive food rescue operations and activities overseas. Grants were paid to leket israel in support of that organizations project leket (gleaning) program, sandwiches for kids project, day and nighttime meal rescue initiative, capacity building projects and general operating support.
