Online reviews are meant to help others make educated decisions, so I continue to share our experience from attending American Family Education when I see my post has been deleted. Many other posts from other parents and students that share information about their difficult experiences while attending AFE have been deleted.

As I read the continued reviews for American Family Education that are within this year, there is concern that families are continuing to experience challenges similar to those we had.

My children attended for two long months during Covid. During the time we were there, my kids struggled academically, and concern for spiritual struggles was arising due to the religious things taught by the teacher and director.

Talking to the director, Kathryn, about our worries about the curriculum and what things were introduced by the teacher was not a pleasant experience. After that conversation, my husband and I knew we couldn't keep our kids there.

Many families (including ours) were overcharged and had to dispute charges; a lot of gossip went on, and information about families and children was shared with other parents (breaching privacy). In traditional schools, sharing information about a student with other parents would not have been tolerated.

The gate pool was unlocked during school hours, and some kids left class and were sometimes unsupervised. A student drowning was a significant concern. The school (large home) where the classes are held was in poor condition and unsafe for students to be left unsupervised.

If your kiddo has a learning disability, the curriculum at AFE wasn't helpful. My two kiddos with dyslexia regressed in reading. After identifying concerns about the skill & training level of the teacher and the curriculum used in class, we hired a certified teacher tutor to work with him while at AFE. He needed someone who understood learning disabilities and the way he learned best to help him make meaningful progress in reading.

When choosing a school, I caution parents to look beyond what the director promises. Also, keep close financial records of any invoices and charges.

BE CAREFUL!!!!

We are so grateful and happy we found this school for our littles. The world is rapidly changing and the morals are declining as well, especially in the public school. We have huge piece of mind letting our littles leave our home. We don't have to spend our evening undoing the lies and propaganda being taught in the public school systems. We have wanted to do a home school curriculum with our littles and got a bit overwhelmed as to where to start. When I was researching home schooling your children, I came across American Family Education. We went to their open house. We were so impressed with the school, the teachers, the family unit being protected that we decided to try this out. Our kids are just so excited to go to school, the schedule the kids have, I don't feel as if their time is wasted, the kids come home excited and buzzing and chatting about their day. We are so grateful that this school is out here and going against the grain in this crazy world we are in.

This is a wonderful school! They stand for America's values and freedom. They allow your children to be themselves! There's open communication between the teachers and parents and your child is never forced to participate in something they do not feel comfortable with and neither are you. This school has great leaders. They love God and stand for our country and care about making wonderful little patriots out of our children that are proud to live in America! I couldn't be more happier that my children attend American Family Education and they absolutely love it! God bless America!

My kids have been to a Charter School, a public school, online school, and have done homeschool. Each of these had their downsides, and we were feeling very frustrated and helpless. I came across AFE while doing some research and decided to check it out. We met with the Director and some staff, and we were very impressed to hear their passion and dedication.
I have noticed now, more than anything, that my kids are finally INTERESTED in learning! My daughter, who had been the most resistant, does all of her work without being forced. Its been a complete transformation. The school itself is much like a big house, which gives the kids a comfortable, informal feeling. It is much more like a Professional group of experienced homeschool teachers, than it is a formal massive institution churning out students like an assembly line. Don't go expecting a giant cinderblock walled building with surveillance cameras at every corner!
The team has been in constant communication with us, and have been available at all hours of the day. We have clear goals for each kid, and we're making big progress with customized supplemental work at home.
For those that are not wanting to put their kids into the dreadful public school system and the adolescent culture there, this is the best alternative, in my opinion. Charter schools and most private schools are not much different, if at all, from the public schools. Online charter/public schools are a complete mess, and the kids don't get much social interaction, let alone enough attention from the teachers.
So, if doing 100% of their homeschooling seems overwhelming, and/or you would like your kids to be excited about learning again, you should at least look into AFE. There is the most unique bunch of electives you'll find in the Valley. If you check it out and it all sounds good but you just aren't sure (like I was), let your kids try it out. You won't be sorry; I know I'm not!

I was really nervous about starting a new school my junior year, but everyone made me feel so welcome. I love the environment that AFE has created through the teachers and administrators. I feel like I am loved and respected when I walk on campus and they are like my second family. We have so much fun in class and I get to explore areas of my education that have never been open to me before. Thank you AFE!
