Mission: The california nurse-midwives associations (cnma) mission is to facilitate the integration of nurse midwives into the health care system of california, promote legislation/regulations supportive of maternal child health and nurse-midwifery practice, and provide a forum for interaction with other groups sharing common maternal-child health goals.
Programs: The most significant accomplishment for the california nurse midwives association has been public education regarding the importance of increasing access to midwifery care for women's health. Nurse-midwifery care has been shown to decrease the rate of cesarean births, decrease costs of care, increase rates of breastfeeding, and increase patient satisfaction. Major activities:- monitoring legislation in state affecting us- lobby day- annual meeting- advocating and advancing cnms in state- public education regarding sponsoring bill ab1306 (remove supervision from midwives)
