Mission: The aclu of ohio foundation is the state's guardian of liberty. Combining litigation, public education, and advocacy, the aclu seeks to preserve the individual rights and liberties that the constitution and the laws of the united states guarantee everyone in this country.
Programs: Through direct legal representation and amicus briefs, the aclu of ohio foundation's litigation program has advocated for ohioans in the following areas, among others: voting rights; juvenile justice; reproductive rights; due process; free speech; bias free policing; rights of people with disabilities.
the aclu of ohio foundation makes use of a variety of education and advocacy tools to promote civil liberties, including an expansive website, a speaker's bureau, print publications, coalition-building, social and traditional media, community forums, tabling and exhibits. We also respond to hundreds of information requests annually, and host student interns in a variety of disciplines. Recent outreach efforts have focused on the topics of mass incarceration and prison reform; debtors' prisons; housing and employment nondiscrimination for lgbt citizens; know your rights; juvenile justice; voting right; rights of people with disabilities, among others.
