I had a rare form of Ovarian cancer Granulosa Cell Tumor. I called ACS for information and to possibly find someone to talk to that had that form or cancer or ovarian cancer. They told me we don't have much information about that form of cancer and read me some information from a book which was all written for medical professionals. They never called me back, even when I reached out to them again and again, to find someone to talk to about my form of cancer or ovarian cancer. They offered me no services and did not even care to help me because my form of cancer was on what I feel is there top cancer list. I was only in my early 30's and terrified.
three stars may be a stretch. I give them two because they have some great programs in place. Our Nanny was able to get a lump in her breast checked out for free. She does not have insurance, so this is worth the 2 stars as a cancer survivor myself. The reason I take three stars off...I do some public speaking about my experience and was told that I could not since I did not use their services. Ok, no big deal.
I also felt like they were more worried about the almighty dollar then the mission. Yes, I get it...NPOs have goals and budgets...but let's not lose sight of the ultimate goal..a cure for cancer
