Mission: Aca new england enhances the lives of children and families through quality camp experiences.
Programs: The association's program and services include the following; public information, education, accreditation, and camp professional services. Public information serves new england as a public resource on camping. We provide educational information to families, social workers and the general public on how to choose a camp, what questions to ask camp directors and the value of the camp experience. Information to the public is available in person, by phone, in print and via electronic media. A camp fair is also held to assist the public. The association provides education programs for both the public and camp professionals. Lessons in community, character building, skill development and healthy living help ensure that youth and adults have the most powerful camp experience possible. Accreditation is a voluntary peer review. Camps address over 250 standards regarding key aspects of camp operations. Camp professional services provide service to over 900 members in new england, as well as over a hundred non-members, who participate in camp programs. The association provides professional development, technical assistance and resources.
spring conference - the spring conference is the association's largest educational program for camp professionals. The association serves over 800 people each march with an educational conference that supports their work in the camping field. There are sessions on many aspects of operating camps including staffing, program, risk management, state regulations, transportation, food management, and healthcare issues.
