My wife and I were volunteers with ABR for just over two years. During that time we fostered 18 dogs and contributed approximately $2,000.00 to ABRs coffers. The one star is for the splendid cause but if one cares to compare ABR with the spin off NBRAN one has to question the 16% administrative cost of ABR when NBRAN manages almost the same amount of donations without this cost. In the short time we were with ABR most of the fosters in the SE quit! Why? Then ABR spends $30,000 boarding dogs, is this really rescuing them, keepng them caged?? ABR spends $36,000 printing? The presidents business is printing? ABR spends $14,000 on accounting, for what? Then a board member posts that she can't think of anyway ABR can improve!

We are volunteers for this wonderful organization. We do home visits and help with transports. We adopted our third Brittany from American Brittany Rescue (ABR). ABR is a wonderful group of people and we are proud to be part of this organization.

My wife and I adopted a young male Brittany from the ABR last summer and couldn't be happier. He is the sweetest Boy. Everyone with the rescue from the coordinators to the foster were great. You couldn't ask for a finer group of people who volunteer their time and money to help these pups. I thank you all at ABR for bringing Jake into our lives.

ABR does an outstanding job of finding permanent homes for the dogs that they care for. Everthing is done on a volunteer basis. Everyone involved is very dedicated to helping the plight of these lost and discarded animals. They also are willing to help other rescues from time to time doing home visits and transportation.

We adopted our first Britt Millie in the mid-nineties as a companion to our 12 year old Britt. I was so impressed with the professionalism and caring of ABR that shortly thereafter I became a volunteer doing home visits. I wasn't to help other families experience the happiness this dog brings and to give back to ABR for the joy it brought our lives. ABR continues to review the organization so improvements can be made to place dogs and utilize it's resources to the maximum.

This is a wonderful organization that saves 1,000 dogs a year through their wonderful volunteer base. Although they have zero salaried staff, they manage to recruit and train and wide variety of people who make sure as many dogs as possible are rescued.

ABR is a wonderful organization that works very hard to ensure that adoptive families are matched with the right companion dog. We have adopted two wonderful dogs through ABR. We also volunteer as a foster home, for transports, and for home visits.
We want all Brittanys to have a safe place to go, medical care, love and training before entering on happy lives with their forever adoptive homes. We care for Brittanys in need, whether they are abused, neglected, strays, or owner-surrenders.
Volunteers work very hard to find the right adoptive home as a match for each dog that we place. The volunteers are so dedicated to the welfare of the animals and the success of adoptions.

I got my first Brittany in 1999 as a foster-to-adopt through ABR and have been volunteering ever since. I am now an Adoption Counselor and help families find just the right four legged friend. Volunteering for ABR can be both challenging and rewarding. But when a dog finds the perfect family, what more could you ask for?

I have enjoyed companionship from Brittany's since about1958 and couldn't ask for a better friend. I first heard about this group shortly after it was formed as I was moving across the state of Michigan. A doctor in my old town had a Brittany and needed to find a home and I helped him out. He mentioned he was going to use ABR if he couldn't find a home for the dog. A few years later our dog passed away and I remembered what doc had said. I looked and found a web site and arranged a visit to a foster home 100 miles away. We interviewed and picked out a new family Britt ( Sadie) and after some paperwork took her home with us. I got interested in the groupand felt I could give some of my spare time to help the dogs out and so I joined as a volunteer around 1996 or so. I travel a lot and I have assisted in long range transports cross country and in the state of Michigan. I also dome home visits and interview for new coordinators, foster homes , and anything else . Due to some family medical problems I am unable to foster long term so I concentrate mostly on pickup and transport functions.
The ABR group deals with one breed, Brittanys. It is the deep felt love for the breed to make it as comfortable and safe for them in thiese turbulant conditions of economy, responsability, and survival. Rescue of a dog from any of these circumstances knowing it will enjoy the future safety and love they deserve is enough to drive anyone to help. That is why I continue to help and volunteer....one dog at a time or a few.....this is one outcome I can pretty well predict.

We have adopted two wonderful dogs from ABR. They are a very professional rescue organization. We were so inspired by them that we became donors and volunteers and have fostered two dogs who subsequently found their permanent families through ABR.

In November 2010, my family and I signed up to be foster dog parents. Little did we know the adventure we were about to come upon. We immediately fell in love with Brea, a 6 yr. old Brittany. We cared for her, took her for vet visits to get spayed and microchiped. The most difficult part was to have someone adopt her. We didn't want to give her up. The ABR was really good at keeping the goal in mind. Get Brea adopted so we can rescue another dog from a shelter. So many wonderful people volunteer their time to make ABR this wonderful nonprofit organization. It amazes me how much effort goes into this and how organized they are. Brea and her brother were over 5 hours away. It took a convoy of 5 different driver volunteers to bring Brea to me. It was amazing. I was hooked that day. The website and Facebook page is loaded with information and wonderful stories. I am priviledged to be a part of it.

We have adopted 2 Brittany's from the American Brittany Resuce group with in the last 8 months.
Their web-site is very comprehensive and easy to navigate. The Brittany's are available with several regional ares in the USA with the corresponding contacts listed. The Brittany's, all, are resuced from shelters or owers who no longer can care for them and are looking for a safe adoption facility for them. In addition, there are some folks who pick up the Brittany's as strays and turn them in directly to the ABR. THe ABR takes the rescue to a ABR approved Vet and has it evaluated and treated at the ABR's expense, them turned over to a ABR approved Foster Home to observe, and when ready for adoption, the dog is placed on the web-site for adoption. A prospective new owner must fill out an application and have their home inspected by an ABR approved inspector within the new owner's region. THe ABR inspectors, to my knowledge are all volunteers and more than likey, have their own recused Brittany's. Everyone I spoke to offered so much help, support, and advise, I was almost overwhemel by the goodness and encouragement of these folks. We are now foster parents for rescure Brittany's. Every time a Brittany is rescued, it provides another home for a new resuce. These ABR volunteers are in the organization for the best motive, to save another Brittany from abuse, abandonment, and from being with a family or individual who needs love and companionship of one of the most lovable and devoted dogs I have ever had . The American Brittany Rescue has one the best organizations, both in structure, communication, and love of what they are doing than anyother non-profit group I have been in contact with.

ABR is a great organization with great national teamwork. I first found ABR when I adopted my dog from them. They were quick, professional, and helpful when we went through the adoption process. I began volunteering for ABR over a year ago, and have fostered dogs for them. ABR seems to be full of very nice people--I've met a number of them from coordinators to people who help with transport and they all seem to be great and willing to go the extra mile to help you or a Brittany in need. They do a great job matching families and dogs, since they use foster homes for the available dogs, and are able to really understand each dog as an individual. My state coordinator has been awesome to work with and is a great source of help and support. This is a great organization!

I am a volunteer who got involved in volunteering with ABR after I adopted my first Brittany rescue. I had been looking into getting another Brittany after 12 years without one. I researched ABR thoroughly. They are very meticulous about where they place the dogs that come into rescue. There is a thorough application and home visit conducted before they will let a dog be adopted and alot of care taken to evaluate the dogs to get them into physical and psychological shape before they are adopted. The dogs are all vaccinated, checked for heartworms and treated if the dog can take it physically, spayed/neutered, if needed, and microchipped. I have since adopted another Brittany and they are two of the best dogs I've ever had.

Recently I had the opportunity to join other volunteers in looking for a lost foster dog, Honey. I was amazed at the outpouring of care, concern, and overall feeling that each and every volunteer was trying to do whatever they could to help. The suggestions, thoughts and prayers of this group made me feel so good to have joined the organization.

First rate organization with emphasis on the dogs and their care, as well as placement into new loving homes. Some of the greatest, most dedicated volunteers you’ll ever find. No one on this team of great people get paid other then by their own satisfaction with a job well done and the happy faces of the Brittanys and those that adopt from ABR.
