Mission: To advance and disseminate the science and practice of hepatology, and to promote liver health and quality patient care.
Results: Since 2009 AASLD has funded nearly $11,000,000 in liver research and advanced hepatology training; bringing 97 new practitioners to the field. From the beginning of the Research and Career Development Awards Program, more than 350 awards have been provided with a total investment of more than $32,000,000. This level of funding represents the largest single commitment in support of liver research and advanced hepatology training by any professional organization. This program has been a success as demonstrated by 80% of award recipients remaining active in the field of hepatology.
Direct beneficiaries per year: In 2013, AASLD supported $2.4 Million in research and career development awards. This level of funding represents the largest single commitment in support of liver research and advanced hepatology training by any professional organization.
Programs: The AASLD Foundation’s awards program funds early-career researchers and clinical care practitioners seeking advanced liver training. Provided on an annual basis, these awards are near-term activities that deliver the building blocks for more liver disease care providers in the future.
