I had signed on, and genuinely believed them to be legit. I later came to read the reviews because I had brainfarted on the name of the firm. Many positive reviews, and few negatives. However, the negatives, all had stories, or nearly all, had stories alarmingly similar to mine. I withdrew the authorization, and contacted them to let them no I would not be needing their services, as they appeared to be a scam.
After several phone calls to me, I took more time to speak with the woman who called. I have rarely been on the receiving end of such vitriol in my life when I explained my concerns and where those concerns stemmed from. The last time such language was directed towards my person, I had gotten on the wrong side of a Drill Sargent during Army Basic Training. In light of that, I truly believe they are in fact a scam and would advise anyone who needs legal help due to financing to instead use the website texaslawhelp dot org. That was were I was directed to by the local legal library, and I was able to do what was necessary myself.
America Family Law Center has been targeting and scamming at risk, low income families for an entire decade now as a non profit organization. I too, became a victim when i searched legal aid in my area. On the surface it looked great with almost 3K reviews and 4.3 stars out of 5. Up until the intake director stated at the end of the call ' i hope it all works out for you, just in case i never speak to you again'. I immediately canceled my credit card. They still tried to charge that account $500 a day for 7 days straight. I was told by their intake director that I would lose in court without their assistance. Their business practices are sick and vile is so many ways. AFLC, their CEO and their affiliates will be held accountable for the dis-service they have given to the public.
