Operation Access is a great example of the shared economy. They use Operating Rooms when they are not in use and get Surgeons to donate their time to provide free care for the uninsured. Now that healthcare is under attack OA is proving its value to care for people in need.

Operation Access seamlessly links talented physicians with members of their own community in need of specialty surgical care. The network of physicians, clinics, hospitals, surgery centers, labs, radiologists, pathologists and more that they bring together to serve the San Francisco Bay Area is truly amazing.

I have a unique perspective of Operation Access acting as both a surgeon volunteer and board member. Armed with the knowledge of its inner workings as an organization as well as its community work as the facilitator of always life-changing and sometimes life-saving surgical care, I can say with confidence that Operation Access is the true definition of the "unassailable" non-profit: That is, there is no good reason that someone would not want to support their uniquely noble and consistently successful mission.

This organization humbly makes an unbelievable impact in our communities. I've worked in healthcare for such a long time, and I've never seen patients who are more grateful and honored, both by the clinical outcomes as well as the experience that Operation Access has afforded them. There are many members of our community who, without access to care, are constrained in their ability to contribute both to their families and to our society. Having the ability for a relatively quick solution -- cornea repair, hernia repair, etc. -- is such a laudable use of resources and energy.

I have been aware of Operation Access for a long time. It is one of the few non-profits in which every one of the volunteers and participant-patients wins. The surgeons and nurses love it as it fulfills their desire to give back. The hospitals love it because it fulfills their commitment to community health. The Community Clinics love it because it provides what their clinic constraints do not allow. The patients love it because they receive care from themes compassionate caregivers. Everyone is smiling at the opportunity to be involved - very rare!!!

I am a former board member and have stayed involved because of the mission of OA. This is a unique organization that promotes US medical volunteerism and helps people who can not afford outpatient medical procedures and surgeries. The commitment of the staff and volunteer providers is unique and unmatched in caring for others.

I have watched a group of committed surgeons, anesthesiologists and nurses repair reversible surgical problems thus permitting extrordinarily grateful patients return to work.

Operation Access is a great organization that leverages the generosity of volunteer medical professionals in order to help bridge the healthcare gap. I feel great knowing that for the $100 donation I made last year, they were able to provide more than $700 worth of medical care to low-income, uninsured people. We all know how hard it can be for people who don't have health insurance. I'm proud to be part of this innovative solution!
