We love our dog Cocoa. We adopted her a year ago and have grown very attached to her. We are first time owners with small children and were very excited to get our new dog.
I saw a picture of Cocoa (then, named “Tankerbell” ) and knew that she was the one. She was advertised as a Basset Mix - only months after adoption, after getting a DNA test, finding out she was a pitbull mix with zero Basset in her - we didn’t care, and loved her all the same.
We followed all the protocols of shots and spays and is current on all pet-care medical requirements - she’s a very healthy and very loved dog - she’s literally one of our furry children.
After we got hit with financial hardship in the last few months and with great sadness, we came to the conclusion we couldn’t care for Cocoa anymore.
When we phoned AMPR, on multiple occasions, with our sensitive case with the request to re-home her, we were met with anger and frankly, I felt humiliated and insulted by the way I was treated. It was so incredibly unnecessary and the way they treated my wife and I was childlike and unprofessional - all because we wanted to re-home her. They showed zero sensitivity to our specific situation.
This experience has soured AMPR’s taste in my mouth - and what a pity because they’re doing such important work…
I see that over a year ago someone had the same experience I had with drugging a dog. Mine too was given a "vaccination" and he to got lethargic after being quite frisky. We went home and he slept for over 24 hours. My vet said the same thing. My dog was not neutered either and no one would honor the information given to me to have him done. I too was very disappointed. When I called about the neutering I was told I would receive a call back. No one did. I called several times and then my number was blocked. I was at a dog park recently and a couple adopted from Amazing Mutts. Loves the dog but had a horrible experience with not having the dog neutered. All the other organizations have their dogs neutered and microchipped ahead of time. I am looking for a friend for my dog but not through this organization. I've had 2 vets tell me they will not deal with Amazing Mutts but won't say why. Please be careful.
There aren’t enough positive words I can express for this amazing rescue. Without them we wouldn’t have our prince Rocco! But beyond that I’m been accepted into a community that offers constant support, advice, stories, and the ability to watch all the dogs and pups they rescue grow to be loved and happy dogs! Stacey and all her fosters have hearts of gold! My goal is to be a foster too some day!
I adopted my amazing mutt Grayson from this wonderful organization and you do become part of this family. When I adopt again it will be another amazing mutt.
I can't say enough great things about this place. Everyone is family and ready to help each other out when needed. I adopted 3 gorgeous baby boys. Each one with their own perfect personality I wouldn't change for the world. Stacy and the team does everything in their power to make sure each puppy find the perfect family.
We currently have two amazing mutts. Jeter is 4 now, we adopted him at 12 weeks. He's our special boy. He had to have an eye removed and everyone at the rescue was with us every step of the way. Jeter is happy and healthy and couldn't be loved more. That's what made us adopt Whiskey at 8 weeks. He's almost 10 months old now and he's the perfect puppy brother for Jeter. We are so grateful for all that this rescue has done for us and our family.
At first we just adopted our puppy. Then we started to go to the adoption events to see the newest litter that the rescue had. My wife and I decided to try fostering. This rescue is amazing since we are a family and everyone supports each other while fostering the pups that come up to us. The administrators are very knowledgeable and are always willing to helping fosters, first time adopters etc. After adopting there is a Facebook group to keep up with the litter and she how they grow and all other litters as well. This is an amazing rescue to work with.
Amazing Mutts Puppy Rescue is a great organization. We have adopted 3 amazing mutts and they are all wonderful pups. The organization has saved so many dogs who were abandoned or on death row. It is well run by caring people.

I adopted my beautiful girl Nala from Amazing Mutts Puppy Rescue and became part of a family. When Nala ran during fireworks people from the rescue including Stacey the founder came out to help search. We were very lucky and found her. Now I work with the group and foster when I can. Highly recommend this group and it’s dedication to saving pups.
For years I followed Amazing Mutts Puppy Rescue on Facebook along with countless other rescues. When I finally bought my home and was able to adopt a dog I put in applications at a few rescue that stood out to me. I quickly realized how different each rescue was, from application approvals, to phone calls and contacting. It was tiring!
When I came to finally putting my app in for AMPR everything went SO smoothly. I had my on file application ready to go for when I found the perfect pup and BOY WAS THAT THE BEST THING I EVER DID!! A month later we see a picture of my boy and instantly fell in love. I contacted AMPR and said you had approved me earlier and they contacted me back IMMEDIATELY. I was able to set up a meet and take my boy home the next day. Since then we have fostered for them and have adopted another puppy from them.
The wonderful volunteers that run the rescue TRULY have the dogs best interest at heart, always. I've seen countless sick/neglected pups lives get turned into a Cinderella story. The application process and the contract are very straight forward and easy to follow. I can't thank Stacey and the rest of the AMAZING volunteers at AMPR for all they do. I couldn't imagine what my life would be like for the last two years without them!
Absolutely love Amazing Mutts and their dedication to saving as many dogs as possible. They saved my Luna and we are soooo blessed to have her. This is a foster based rescue. All pups are kept in a volunteers home. No one is paid to take care of them. They are loved as a family member until they find their forever home. Nothing compares to knowing your new baby was loved while they waited for you. Especially given the situations that Amazing Mutts pulls some of these dogs from. They don't just pull the cutest itth bitty puppies. They pull the mommas other rescues left behind. They pull the injured who have no other chance. They of course pull adorable puppies too. It is about love here not profit. It is a non profit who only want to find happy homes for as many dogs as they can. Find your new baby today!
I've volunteered with Amazing Mutts and had a chance to meet the network of foster families that keep this organization going. It's amazing to see what these folks are doing and how dedicated they are to caring for these pups, pooling their resources and finding homes for them all!
This rescue goes above & beyond in rescuing dogs & pups. I adopted twice so that says alot. The fosters are amazing. They walk you through the entire process from applying to adopting...and follow up with you weeks & months after their foster dogs go home.
I was leary of adopting. I had heard horror stories of the way rescues treat their adopters, however, that was not the case with AMPR. I went back a second time to get a sibling, i wouldn't have done that had i had a bad experience.
Five Stars all the way!
I adopted my Amazing Mutt 4 years ago. I have never seen a more dedicated group of volunteers. They love all.of these pups and make sure they are well taken care of.
This organization is run by the most caring and genuine people you can find. They dedicate their time and resources to saving as many puppies (and momma dogs) as possible. Every single foster is whole-heartedly dedicated to finding the best home for each pup, and until officially adopted they take care of them as if they were there own. People who adopt become a part of the AMPR family, and seeing the community, their family, and friends come together for fundraisers and adoption events is heartwarming. You can’t adopt from a better rescue than AMPR!
Even though I adopted an awesome dog I would never go back to Amazing Mutts. They drugged my dog during the adoption showing. She came there all full of energy, probably a little too much energy for most people but that was okay with me. One of the volunteers gave her an injection and said it was a vaccination. About 20 minutes later the dog became lethargic and very docile. My husband and I took her home and she slept straight through for 2 days. We took her to the vet and she said she had been given a sedative to calm her down so she wouldn't appear so hyper. That is unacceptable to do that to a dog. They also didn't have her spayed and gave me a "coupon" for a discount for her to be spayed along with a list of vets that would do it with the coupon. None of those vets participated in the program. I had to pay it on my own in addition to the ridiculous fees they charge for adopting. I called them about the spaying and they gave me the run around and eventually would not return my calls. I have heard many horror stories since so I would never recommend them. My rating is a big fat "0".

Hello! Thank you for your review. However, there isn't a lick of truth to your review. We have never sedated any dog or pup in Amazing Mutts and also, we do not use spay/neuter coupons... and never will. If you would like to call us and explain which pup you are referring to... we would be more than happy to speak with you. We return every phone call that comes in to our rescue, every email as well. Sad when people spread untruths about a rescue or business and cannot sign their name to review. Stacy - President/Founder of AMPR
Hi adopted from amazing mutts puppy rescue, 3 times now...I have had the best experience adopting our dogs through them.. once you adopt you become one of their family... couldn't ask for a better group of people...thank you Amazing Mutts puppy rescue...
Our beloved boxer had passed away and I wasn't sure if I could bring another dog into my home. After the hurricane in TX last year, a friend of mine shared a page on Facebook of a rescue that was bringing abandoned dogs from TX to loving homes in NJ. I followed the page for awhile and then the most beautiful little face popped up on my screen. Her name was Quinn. She wasn't from TX but she was rescued from an awful situation in the area. When the rescue found her she was sick and had lost most of her fur from a terrible case of mange. They took her in and got her healthy. As soon as I saw that face I knew she had to come home with us. If it wasn't for this wonderful rescue who knows what would have happened to my sweet girl. I am so thankful to the wonderful volunteers and fosters who save these amazing mutts.
I adopted Murphy from Amazing Mutts Puppy Rescue a year and a half ago. It was such a positive experience and he was such an incredible dog, that i decided to start fostering for the rescue in order to give back. By the end of the summer, a second amazing mutt became a part of our family. I highly recommend this organization.

Very sad that you need have posted false information above. If you had reached out to AMPR at any time you would have received a call, and been spoken to. However, this is so far from truth as is the profile you are posting under. We have a wonderful affiliation witn our vets and have used them for over 4 and 5 yrs. It's a shame you feel you need to post under a non profit with lies and false information.
