Amario's Art Academy is a hidden treasure in the SW community. I heard about Amario's via a friend whose son participated in the program. I signed my son, first for a summer course, then for the weekend program that is offered during the school year. I immediately noticed the change in my son's level of confidence, in general, and with regard to his drawing, specifically. The school has a great reputation and they always make youth and parents feel welcomed.

I’m Dorothy Lucey, a filmmaker, located in Charlotte, North Carolina. I couldn’t let another day go by without telling you about the amazing Amario Andre, owner of Amario’s Art Academy. Recently, I won the Best Documentary Award at the Peachtree Village International Film Festival in Atlanta, GA for my documentary feature “Open Legs With A Closed Mind”. During my short visit, I had the pleasure to meet Amario Andre. After scheduling the wrong travel date, time, and with no family nearby, I was stranded in Atlanta, GA. Mr. Andre saw fear in my eyes and wanted to help. Unknowingly, he was the supervisor with magical powers. He went to the very same attendant and requested a change of travel. It was so unusual to have someone as kind, helpful, and loving to want to help me. I’m used to be the giver and not receiving. Amario will never understand how something as small as changing a bus ticket gave me hope with a higher purpose. Sometimes we take advantage of the small things that mean the most. I’m certain Amario’s Art Academy is a program utilized for the benefit of others, and I look forward to being a part of the organization. Amario Andre is an amazing person and his generosity will never be forgotten.

Sincerely,

Dorothy Lucey

Amario's Art Acdemy for the Gifted has built a strong reputation for bridging the talents of young gifted art students and providing a path into a world of potential opportunities within the graphic arts industry. This school takes special care in providing each student with professionally guided instruction. During the structured curriculum the students engage in up-to-date technical applications in computer graphics and how to apply that technology into their desired art form. Amario's Art Academy creates a forum where youth can express and explore art through comic book story-telling, drawing, and animation. The Academy teaches students how to draw, research, and appreciate the many mediums of art. They use comics to promote literacy within the classroom and encourage reading outside the classroom. And finally, the Academy encourages its students to think and incorporate the things they learn into their daily life, art, characters, words, stories, action, color and design.

Amario's art academy has proven that art can bridge the gap in bringing the community together for common causes. I have witnessed students in beginning art enrichment becoming very skilled as a result of the program. Not only does the school develope artist but builds leadership skills in youth. The students are passionate about making a difference in their home, school and community. Several of the students have placed well in art competitions. This school need more sponsors and recognition for the wonderful work they are preforming. When you drive around verious places in metro atlanta you will see the great work of Amario's Art Academy.

My son has been attending the Academy for 2 years now and his interest continues to grow year after year! He looks forward to the skills that are taught and the resources that he is exposed to in order to fine tune his artistic talent. The instructors are down to earth and they take the time to invest in the future well being of the students academically and vocationally. The environment is one that offers the opportunity for growth and nurturing development.
As a parent it is a relief to find a community resource that lives up to it's mission, vision and philosophy! I just wish they could expand to multiple locations in Georgia!

I am an instructor at Amario's Art Academy for the Gifted and Talented . Several years ago I began volunteering at the Academy while completing my college studies Over the years I have seen many students grow & prosper.. At Amario's Art Academy, students are in a welcoming and safe learning environment . Pablo Picasso once said “All of us are artists, then we grow up..” Academy students like being in an environment in which they can freely express themselves art through comic book art, life drawing, and animation. Amario & Shondella are a blessing to me and the students they serve. We all want to make sure that students understand what it takes to be a leader and to be an inspiration to other people.

Academy students of all ages and skill sets arrive at the Academy ready to learn, sometime within a couple of weeks they became a complete masters at drawing comics, computer animation, and painting. The still Life drawing class was one of the favorite classes for our Summer Camp Students, our "Look and Draw" technique is widely used in professional drawing classed at SCAD & Art Institute of Atlanta. Once our students really understood the ideas of the elements & principles of design, they were able to collaborate their drawings and work in a comprehensive manner. As I continue to work with this organization, it helps me to become a better teacher, a better artist, and a good leader !

Amario's Art Academy for the Gifted and Talented provides a unique learning experience in today's culture. The staff promotes unity amongst the students, they teach tolerance and acceptance, and community activism. The curriculum prepares students for a real workforce and exposes them as much as possible to real world career experiences. It is a rarity to find instructors who are as nurturing, respectful and caring. Tha Academy is economically affordable, but the experience my child has gained have been priceless.

Amario’s Art Academy offers a quality arts program that provides an opportunity for youth to hone their talent and express their creativity. Academically, art is a learning tool. Studies show that children learn in a variety of ways. Many children thrive in this type of learning environment. One of the unique features about this program is that it teaches young people how to create a comic book. During the development of a comic book, students gain knowledge with realistic applications in the areas of research, writing, storytelling, editing, design and graphics arts. Additionally, Amario’s Art Academy strives to build character and integrity through the creative arts process.

Amario's Art academy provide a caring and nurturing environment for students in Metropolitan Atlanta. The school is unique in that it provides tools used by students to find their gifts in the area of art. There is a demand for students to learn that integrity is above skills.

The academy is more than a place to draw. Students are taught the importance of giving back. They are taken to hospitals and other venues where they draw seniors, the ill and others in order to put a smile on their faces. The academy also plays a role in neighborhood beautification. Academy students create murals in schools, churches, street/outdoors, etc.
