Mission: Altar’s mission is to guide people to live a greater life with God, themselves and their most valued-relationships through life-shaping fly fishing retreats and outdoor adventures. Altar retreats weave the art of fly fishing with intentional life and leadership coaching, create time for personal reflection, rest and renewal, and help chart a course of next steps for greater soul health, resiliency and impact. Add great food, lodging, fellowship and conversations, and this robust experience will leave a lasting mark on your life. Our primary focus is on three types of leaders: pastors and those in vocational ministry, high-capacity organizational leaders, and elite military personnel.

I have been on three retreats with Altar, and each one was such a positive impact on my life. I was in different seasons of challenge or ease, and the time away to rest and reflect while enjoying the sport of fly fishing was such a perfect way to recenter my focus and prepare for the season ahead. Can’t wait for the next trip!
We spent 4 days with a group of business leaders at Frontier Ranch in Colorado in June 2023. The facilities and food were wonderful. The fishing was amazing, however several of the members had never fly-fished before. They learned a great deal but we all benefited from the devotions and the leadership of Eric Camfield and Nathan Flowers. Everyone felt refreshed and ministered to by the staff that cared for us. The proof that all felt it was worthwhile is the number of trips booked for next year by the attendees. Keep up the great work Eric and Nathan!
I have attended multiple Altar retreats over the last few years. My focus on the first trip was learning to fly fish. However, I found the time of Christ-centered personal reflection to be more valuable to my life. Each retreat has afforded me with an opportunity to more deeply explore my faith and my need to have a healthy soul. While the fishing is great, the ministry is even better!
I was a participant in Altar's 2023 Pastor's Renewal retreat in Buena Vista, CO. I was originally attracted to Altar for the fishing aspect of this trip. A time when pastors can be together and fly fish, WHO COULD RESIST? Although fishing was an exciting and essential part of our time, the content, care and connection that my Altar retreat provided me was surprising and valuable. I can't wait to go again on another Pastor's Retreat in a couple of years.
