Mission: To support and empower the ALS community through a collaborative approach to fostering bold research initiatives, advancing advocacy, and providing comprehensive care to individuals and families affected by ALS.
Results: In 2023, ALS United North Carolina assisted more than 1,000 individuals with ALS and their caregivers, with ages spanning from 23 to 93, including 68 U.S. Veterans. Over $540,000 awarded in financial grants to ALS patients and clinics in North Carolina. Supported 254 newly diagnosed patients. Our Care Services Team collaborated with our 6 ALS clinics to oversee 1,500+ visits. 144 families assisted with transportation for ALS care through our Care Grant. 104 virtual support groups held with 270 attendees. 475 individual pieces of durable medical equipment (DME) picked up or delivered free of charge. Provided funding for over 2,700 hours of in-home respite care. 239 families received financial support from our ALS Care Grant. 334 families utilized our durable medical equipment (DME) loan closet. 326 pieces of durable medical equipment were added to our loan closet.
