Alliance for Children is a wonderful organization that provides care, understanding, and guidance to the young population of Tarrant County, Texas. The people that work at Alliance for Children are very proficient at what they do. Their credentials and training are impressive, but their consistency at putting the children's needs first it what truly makes the people at Alliance for Children extraordinary.
What a wonderful agency! The staff and the volunteers really have a heart for the children and the families that they serve. Much training, expertise, professionalism, and most of all heart goes into the work of this agency on a daily basis. Clients are served using newest research methods to help with any issues that they have. The staff works hard to reach out to the community to educate them on child sexual abuse and how to prevent it and treat it. A dedicated team is greeted each day with a perilous and difficult task, yet they take it on for the kids with a deep respect and admiration for what they are going through. Kudos to Alliance for Children for their dedication and hard work!!
During the last 3 years my husband and I have donated a Thanksgiving basket or a few presents for Christmas. This last Christmas we were told that many families were on the waiting list and had no sponsors. We sponsored two young boys who only wanted shoes and nice clothes to wear to church. They didn't ask for toys or electronic games like so many young children their age. We were honored to help out this family and it made me appreciate everything my family and I have. I was glad to give back in some small way.
We had this organization come speak at our school...and the presenter was amazing! It was a very informative presentation for the parents of our students and provided a lot of information that was really applicable in helping parents look for signs of abuse and tips on how to prevent it from happening. The agency is obviously filled with experts in the field and passionate about educating the community about different types of abuse to children.
This organization has so many great services to offer to children who have been abused and their families. The best thing about these services is that it's FREE. There are so many changes that occur when a family has to go through something so traumatic, so it helps when a family doesn't have to worry about paying for counseling. They have such wonderful staff who go above and beyond to ensure that these children get the help they deserve.
As a counselor in a school, I often see the aftermath of abuse, such as skipping classes, failing grades, etc. However, I always know I can turn to the staff at Alliance For Children for help. Once there was an incident where I had a child transfer to my school, who had moved from another state, where the abuse had been reported. The mother wanted counseling for her and her child, but had no insurance and couldn't afford to pay for it. I called Alliance For Children and within a couple of days, the staff had gotten the information they needed to offer services to the family. Having Alliance For Children in Tarrant County helps to ensure families are able to heal. They give hope when it's needed the most.
As a social work major, I have heard so many great things about this agency. They do so much in regards to their programs and just everything else they do for abused children and their families. I think what I love the most about this agency is that they are family centered, and they not only help the children but also their families for free. It is very hard to find an agency with people that care so much and want to help people at no cost. It would be great if more people were aware that an agency like this exists in Tarrant County in more than one city because so many people don't know about the free help they can get.
As a former intern at Alliance For Children, I got to observe the innerworkings of the organization firsthand for four and a half months, and I can not say enough about the compassion and empathy of the professionals who work there.
The agency houses members of the local Police Department, Child Protective Services, a representative from the District Attorney's office, and Family Advocates (generally a Licensed Social Worker). In my time as an intern, I worked closely with all organizations housed within Alliance For Children, and each person that I interacted with was not only highly professional and dedicated to helping children and their families overcome a difficult situation, but they were also passionate about doing so.
In Alliance For Children, the community has a building teeming to the brim with people who would drop everything at an instant to help just one child in any way they knew how. The lengths that the employees will go to to meet a child or family's needs far exceeds their obligations and responsibilities to that family and child.
"Above and beyond" is an understatement - I saw so many selfless acts while interning there from employees and volunteers alike. Family Advocates would travel all across the county to meet with others who had the child's best interests in mind. Police Officers diligently worked after hours to catch a perpetrator with no intention of stopping until he or she was brought to justice. CPS workers worked day in and day out to investigate conditions and claims, whatever the cost. Forensic interviewers spoke with children patiently about their stories and listened objectively to what they had to say. Employees from the District Attorney's office helped to constantly update others on the case and the legal proceedings.
Although a child having to enter the doors of Alliance For Children is a heartbreaking event in itself, rest assured that, from then on, the child will be well taken care of by the staff and employees housed within the organization.
Alliance for Children is an organization that provides a voice to children and families that may feel like they no longer have one. It assists families learn to become survivors instead of victims. Not only are families emotionally supported by this organization, but their specific needs are also assessed and resources are provided to families in all different types of situations. Because AFC has a bilingual staff, Spanish speaking families do not "fall through the cracks". Instead, they feel supported because they can communicate their needs in their language and they will be understood.
As a community volunteer and life-long citizen of tarrant county, I can shoose anywhere I want to volunteer. I enjoy volunteering at Alliance For Children because they make me feel like I make a difference and am contributing to their cause. I feel good after i have spent time with their agency.
As a school teacher, I am very aware of the needs of this underserved segment of our citizenry - the voice of young children in crisis.
I support and advocate for Reliance for Children and for additional funding.
This organization rescues those children who don't have a chance and offers them opportunities beyond their dreams. What greater reward for a child that has the capability of excelling or simply reaching their potential by being encouraged with love, guidance, boundaries and options in achieving a dream . To be involved in their programs, benefits, etc. is to know you might have helped one child get on the right side of the tracks. I appreciate the opportunity of being involved and witnessing the heart and soul Janet Back & staff put into this obstacle course and the confidence they exude in this endeavor. I have had the privilege in being an volunteer and witnessing what their donations accomplish. .
I am an admirer of all that Alliance For Children does to help the children and families of Tarrant County in the fight against child abuse. We are fortunate to live where their services are available to our citizens. Please join me in supporting them with a donation, volunteering or participation in their Great Conversation Dinner, Golf Tournament or Let's Play Bingo.
