I began volunteering here while I was still employed. It is a very rewarding experience and I have continued to volunteer in my retirement. The clients are extremely thankful for the items received. The number of people served is an eye opener as to how many are struggling to feed their families right now. The staff is friendly and I’ve met many new people there.
This is a great local food bank! I've been volunteering here for a few years now. The staff here are amazing; they're always friendly and they get to know many of the clients personally. The volunteers are always personable and kind. The food bank itself is kept very clean and organized well. It's valuable community resource!
Our church has ten dedicated volunteers who help clients at the Allentown Ecumenical Food Bank. It is always such a rewarding experience. The customers are polite and friendly and most grateful for the nutritious food they're getting for their families. I've been volunteering for 13 years and the new location and set-up for selecting food that fits each family is a great way to serve our community.
This is a great place for patrons to feel like they have a say over what kinds of food they want when visiting a food pantry instead of just getting a set amount of food that they might not even be able to eat. Set up like a grocery store, it also gives people more dignity than just waiting to grab a bag in a line. It is truly a great place for patrons.
I volunteered last week for the first time and it was a great experience! The people at this food bank are doing great work feeding so many who would have to go without. I'll definitely be volunteering again in the future.
I started volunteering with the foodbank about 10 years ago. In the beginning I just bagged food and gave it out to our clients. We then moved to our new location and opened a food pantry, similar to a grocery store. The people shop and chose from what we have available. Everyone seems pleased with the variety we have to offer and very appreciative for the food. I volunteer about 5-6 times a month. It has been a very rewarding experience!!!!
I started volunteering at the Food Bank approximately 18 months ago. I was immediately impressed by the number of patrons served each day along with the variety of foods available to them. My interaction with a number of patrons during their shopping visits has inspired me to begin Spanish immersion classes in order to enhance my communication abilities. The Food Bank administration and volunteers strive to accomplish their vital mission in a pleasant and courteous manner. It is a tribute to the generosity of its benefactors that allows the Food Bank to assist so many needy families throughout Lehigh County
There are many seniors in the Allentown area who are eligible for services and in need of nutritional support but are unable to visit the Allentown Area Ecumenical Food Bank in person. The Food Bank is developing a pilot program to deliver fresh produce, protein, dairy products, and other items to select senior residential facilities. The smiles, surprise, and warm "thank you" responses we have received as we distribute this food is an initial measure of success. The Food Bank strives to develop strategies that meet the needs of our diverse community.
I have been volunteering for a while at this awesome facility! I felt welcome from the very first time I volunteered. It’s a great feeling to be part of an organization that provides such wonderful services for the community! The entire team works together to provide an excellent experience for everyone! I always enjoy my time with the clients, staff and all of the amazing volunteers!

I started looking for volunteer work, soon after retiring from my daily work. I had been volunteering at Meals on Wheels, Habitat for Humanity and VALOR but needed something more. After seeing an ad in the paper for helping at the Allentown Area Ecumenical Food Bank, I called and set up helping on Thursday afternoons. The staff and other volunteers were so welcoming, nice and social I felt right at home. After helping out for about a year, Amy asked if I could help on Wednesday afternoons and she didn’t have to say any more. Yes! I am very happy working here. If others only knew how great helping out here is, we would have a flood of volunteers.
Please consider helping here.

Had a wonderful experience working with the staff and volunteers at the Allentown Area Ecumenical Food Bank serving those in need in our community. - Sean
I have been a twice a month volunteer for the Food Bank for years and have experienced its evolving into a client choice pantry now. The food available is varied, from fresh produce to frozen meats, staples such as milk and eggs and much more. Interacting with the clients is wonderul and they are so appreciative. It is a valuable asset to our challenging economic times, especially to families with limited incomes.

I’m a client of the food bank. I must say my first time going here I like the positive vibe and how organized, friendly, helpful the staff were. Because it is such a great place, I now like to volunteer there. Thanks

I first came to the food bank as a client and appreciated all the food and how you can select what you will use and leave what I won't use for someone else who can use it. The employees and volunteers are so helpful with pleasant personalities. Now I am a client and volunteer, so happy to give back to the food bank.

I started volunteering at the Allentown Area Ecumenical Food Bank immediately after retiring in 2016. Our church had been sending a team of 6 to 8 volunteers 2 or 3 times every month to pack grocery orders since the Food Bank's inception. This organization focuses on providing nutritious, healthful food options to those that are currently experiencing food insecurity. Our operation is now set up as a Client Choice Pantry where our clients get to shop for their food in a similar fashion to what you would experience in a typical grocery store. For the past 3 years, I've expanded my volunteer duties to include writing grant requests to help achieve the Food Bank's financial goals. I love volunteering my time and talents to this worthwhile organization, and helping those who find themselves in the growing ranks of the food-insecure.
I have been volunteering and writing grants for the Allentown Area Ecumenical Food Bank since 2019. This organization focuses on providing nutritious, healthful food options to those that are currently experiencing food insecurity. Our operation is set up as a Client Choice Pantry where our clients get to shop for their food similar to what you would experience in a typical grocery store. I love volunteering and helping those who are not as fortunate as I have been.
