Hello My Name is Jackie. I have been volunteering at All Riders Up for the past month. I enjoy helping other's especially young individuals with special needs. I found this organization close to my house so I contacted the director whom welcomed me. Safety is the number one priority when anyone enters the premises. I had to complete a safety course by watching a video, and sign a contract that I will following the specific rules on the property to protect myself, others and the horses. I have learned a great deal about horses and I am no longer afraid of them. I am now comfortable when entering the stalls in the barn and I knowledgable with how to feed the horses and clean the stalls. These horses are very well cared for and are gently giants. I am always with a mentor when I volunteer and everyone here works really hard. Their days start very early and end late. Marcy is the Director, and she is so kind. She always makes sure her staff has everything they need and offers treats in her home. I have not assisted with lessons so far but I'm sure this program benefits many people. So far my experience has made me appreciate and respect the relationship animals and people can have. It is a wonderful organization and I encourage everyone to check this place out.
