I had never been to any summer camp before. I am an adult and some of the staff asked if I wanted to be a counselor. I am so glad I said yes. I am hooked. The kids are great. The staff is attentive and obviously adore the kids. There must be something that really works about bringing people of such diverse backgrounds together because so many keep coming back.
I have been working with this camp since I was 16 years old. I am now 24 and living in Germany and still found a way to make it back to help out. My experience this year and in years past is one full of professional growth by way of mentorship and personal joy as I've had the ability to really make a difference in the lives of young and older people. Each year brings new staff and different kids, but the goal has never been anything but ensuring everyone is safe and having fun!
What an amazingly diverse group of children! The fabulous volunteers work hard and creatively and very well to bring an experience of community to a racially and economically diverse group of children.
All God's Children Camp is a fun welcoming community. Like a little slice of heaven, all are welcome from age 7 to age 99, we are all family for one week and its an old school way to teach the art of living. Wake up early, dinner with camp family, sign up for new activity, learn something new! One of the noted successes is sending kids to begin the academic year two weeks after camp, having just learned to swim, fish or jump off a zipline! Splendid growth spurts occur for all of us! Been on staff for 20 years and still wishing life was more like camp! Our challenge is to make it so.
