I'm continuously impressed by the variety and quality of performances at the theater. Equally impressive is its education and community outreach programs including those for autism and for Head Start. I feel fortunate to have such a quality venue in my community.
Algonquin Arts offers a wide range of programs for the South Monmouth and North Ocean County areas of NJ. The Fr. Alphonse Orchestra recently had a great sellout performance of Rodgers and Hammerstein. Motown on New Year's Eve was enjoyed by close to a thousand area people. Programs for school children offer opportunity to see live performances and perform themselves - for all area children including at-risk.
Algonquin Arts Theatre is an outstanding venue. In addition to year round presentations of music, theatre, dance and film, the historic theatre also offers a wide array of educational and charitable outreach programming designed to increase arts access for the entire community. Some of their most impressive programs include PAGE & STAGE (a literacy program for 3-5-year-olds in Monmouth County Head Start centers), AUTISM THEATRE WORKSHOP (a weekly theatre program, in partnership with POAC of Brick), RISING STARS (the only NJ statewide classical music competition for young adults), and a robust, year-round PERFORMING ARTS ACADEMY.
Review from Guidestar
Algonquin Arts Theatre is a bright spot and hub of culture and education in an otherwise sleepy little resort town . In the off season, Algonquin Arts Theatre is not only the anchor business in the town, aiding in economic viatality, but a rich cultural center for film, theatre, music, dance, and theatrical performances. The staff is cheery and helpful, the parking convenient, and all and all, a first rate operation!
