Mission: To improve the quality of life for survivors of traumatic brain injury and for their families.
Programs: Resource coordination - local staff (resource coordinators) in communities across alabama work directly with traumatic brain injury survivors and their family to identify financial resources available to assist with long-term care; to secure durable medical equipment and necessary home modifications; to help get medical bills written-off or reduced; and to establish annual goals for both the survivor and the caregivers.
juvenile tbi program - ahif partners with the alabama department of rehabilitation services (adrs) through a federal maternal child health bureau (mchb) grant to investigate the identification of tbi in juveniles that will allow them to receive care to prevent negative outcomes associated with a missed tbi diagnosis.
respite care - ahif works with local home health agencies to provide limited respite care opportunities for caregivers of traumatic brain injury survivors.
