Mission: Incorporated as a non-profit organization in 1986, ARIS serves thousands of people throughout Santa Clara County with HIV/AIDS education, and provide support services to those affected by HIV/AIDS and those who love and care for them. All this is made possible through the efforts of hundred of dedicated volunteers.
Programs: ARIS provides
Support Services for people affected by HIV/AIDS, including special groups for HIV+ Latino men and South County residents, one to one emotional support and companionship, post HIV test information and referrals, recreational activities and social support. Food and Nutrition Services - Food Baskets to low-income people with HIV/AIDS and their families, nutritional supplements for those with special dietary needs.
Practical Assistance - public transportation passes, transportation to medical appointments and other destinations, assistance with everyday needs and referrals to professional medical, dental, legal, bodywork and other services for people affected by HIV/AIDS.
AIDS Housing- shared housing for low- income people with disabling HIV/AIDS who might otherwise be homeless; roommate referrals and rental assistance for individuals and families; studio apartments at Casa de Los Amigos; access to case management, food, housing alternatives and all ARIS services and, a residential care facility for those needing 24 hr. care. HIV Prevention Education for populations at high risk of infection, special outreach programs for gay youth and gay Latinos, Women IV drug users, and the incarcerated.
Community Education Program through presentations and speaking engagements on HIV/AIDS facts and on personal experience with HIV and through health fairs and literature distribution.
