Mission: ADFAC, an independent non-profit agency, exists to serve the basic needs of primarily low-income residents in Anderson and surrounding Appalachian counties. ADFAC's goal is to help families become stable and self-sufficient through a variety of direct assistance services provided by our Social Services and Affordable Housing programs.

Geographic areas served: Anderson, Campbell, Morgan, Roane and Scott counties in East Tennessee
Programs: Social services program - adfac, incs social services program provides aid to lower income families with immediate needs such as rent/mortgage or utilities assistance. The program also provides other services such as the school supply program. Assistance is provided by contributions and support from individuals and organizations in the local community as well as local utility companies and government grants.
affordable housing - adfac, incs affordable housing progam repairs, improves or reconstructs substandard owner-occupied homes and constructs new affordable homes for low income families by matching government grants with volunteer crews and local contractors.

This organization packs 1000s of backpacks for local county schools. The coordinator gets all the supply lists from the schools and for each grade. Bags are packed with all needed supplies and the kids get to pick out a favorite bag. It's a win-win for the schools, teachers, students. Everyone starts the year off on a positive note thanks to ADFAC.
ADFAC prides itself in its mission to help under-served and disadvantaged families and individuals in our area achieve self-sufficiency. All of the employees and volunteers take this mission seriously, and it shows!
ADFAC is the largest social service agency in Anderson County, Tennessee, and does an outstanding job of providing utility and rent assistance, over 3500 school backpacks for children in need annually, and the highest quality of new housing and housing renovations for low-come families.
ADFAC does a wonderful job getting help where help is needed in distressed areas. Not only in social services but housing as well. The staff are well trained, intelligent, and have a caring heart. It is amazing what ADFAC accomplishes with limited resources.
