Mission: As a comprehensive, community-based behavioral health organization, acts mission is to apply the best of contemporary physical and behavioral health interventions and social support services available to assist individuals and families to engage and succeed in recovery.
Programs: Adult substance abuse:the organization provides secure, medically supervised substance abuse receiving facilities providing inpatient assessment, detoxification, stabilization, and short-term treatment and referral services for adults who are actively using drugs and/or alcohol. The program operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and accepts voluntary or involuntarily admitted clients. Involuntary clients are admitted via law enforcement, physicians certificate, civil or criminal court order. In addition to the adult detoxification services, the organization provides a full range of intervention and treatment services to include outpatient detoxification, outpatient and residential treatment services, and after care and recovery support services. The organization served over 2,500 adults this fiscal year.
children's substance abuse:the organization provides secure, medically supervised substance abuse receiving facilities providing inpatient assessment, detoxification, stabilization, and short-term treatment and referral services for adolescents ages 12-17 years old who are actively using drugs and/or alcohol. The program operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and accepts voluntary or involuntarily admitted clients. Involuntary clients are admitted via law enforcement, physicians certificate, civil or criminal court order. In addition to the youth detoxification services, the organization provides a full range of adolescent services to include intensive intervention, case management, and residential treatment services. The organization served over 6,029 youths this fiscal year.
housing:acts 36 bed transitional housing program (thp), operational since 1977, provides individualized treatment planning, life skills education, weekly community meetings, monthly consumers/management counsel, and client led 12 step groups. Thp offers employment services through a veterans compensated work therapy program. In addition to work strategies, those assessed to need mainstream resources are quickly referred to the veterans administration, social security disability, food assistance program and other social assistance programs. Acts permanent housing programs in hillsborough, polk and hardee counties have historically provided permanent housing services in agency owned properties and through scattered site leasing. Acts acquired an additional 3 units (6 beds) housing first apartment complex to serve persons who are homeless and a duplex (2 units, 6 beds) to serve veterans through a donation by hillsborough county. At any one time, acts also manages up to 50 scattered site leasing units funded by hud for permanent housing and supportive services. Acts congregate room and board facilities (presently 2) provide housing for previously homeless residents in long-term recovery in pasco and hillsborough counties. Sobriety is supported and maintained through continuous staff and peer support and interaction. Services include but are not limited to: assistance in filing for disability, assistance in job searches, and assistance in qualifying for any additional benefits available through social services programs. Facility activities are scheduled daily and regularly and reviewed at least quarterly. Weekly in-house aa meetings, daily outside aa/na meetings, transportation to medical appointments, bi-weekly shopping trips, local sporting events, and local community and intra-agency activities and outings are provided on a regular basis. In 2015, hillsborough county funded 15 assisted living facility beds and leasing for 4 apartments to serve individuals who are homeless to support their transition into permanent housing (bridges). The local continuum of care also awarded acts hud leasing and supportive services funding (heart) to serve 100 chronically homeless persons in permanent housing placements.
