Mission: The after school buddies program exists to help teen and college-aged women to become active, competent and caring citizens by empowering them to prepare younger girls for the social and academic challenges of middle school. Programs: After school buddies (asb) is an after school program that empowers young adults and teens to positively impact the lives of younger students through weekly meetings and an annual summer day camp. During 2016 there were three elementary school programs: buckingham buddies ran from january - may 2016. Elk meadow ran from january - may and november - december 2016; juniper elementary school hosted a new program that began in november 2016 and continued in december and on into the new year. The middle school program (thrive) ran from january - may 2016. Students served in 2016: middle school programs: 35 middle school students/12 high school/college students and 10 adults elementary programs: 49 girls/51 high school/college students and 12 adults camp: 53 youth campers served by 32 adult counselors/volunteers total of people involved during 2016 = 254 including volunteers from area high schools, central oregon community college and oregon state university cascades.
