AHDS usually serve the most needy people in the remote areas, while mostly insecure, with health, nutrition, education, humanitarian and community development projects. It is a unique character of AHDS, while most of others are looking for the projects in Urban, nearby and secure areas where access and facilities are easy.
I have worked for over 10 years in Afghanistan and have had the opportunity to get familiar with many types of organizations working there. AHDS is by far one of the best NGOs that I have come across. They are extremely professional, they always put the needs of their beneficiaries before everything else, and take a truly participatory approach in how they manage and run their organization. AHDS is an excellent example of an Afghan based and Afghan run NGO that has withstood the test of time and is needed for the longterm stability of Afghanistan.
