Mission: Advocates for homeless families' mission is to achieve permanent solutions to homelessness by providing access to housing, education, employment, and supportive services to frederick county families who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. Families achieve success through a two-year structured program focused on life skills training and intensive case management services.
Programs: Families forward - to provide rental assistance to prevent evictions, mortgage assistance to prevent foreclosure and other support to help low-income families reestablishing households.
emergency transitional housing - to provide transitional housing for homeless families through a one or two year structured program of education and support.
A few years back my daughter and I had everything taken from us and wound up without a home. Advocates for Homeless Families saved our lives. The resources and sense of peace this program provided were what I didn't know I needed. As a director result of my time with this program I changed my whole life trajectory. I am now a non profit owner and CEO, my daughter is in college to be a nurse and due to the budgeting tools I learned from AFHF college has been little to no cost. So much growth, education and support...Advocates for Homeless Families will always have a place in my heart and my support!
I love this group. My family and I have volunteered with Advocates for over 5 years, and I have seen this program change a lot of lives. I think that the most important things that families get from Advocates is time and breathing room. Advocates gives families the immediate housing support they need, while also providing the support to rebuild lives and transition to self-sufficiency.
