I adopted my dog, Daisy, from Adopt-an-Angel. They were, and are, a responsive, compassionate, dedicated organization that puts the animals' welfare first. Always. I would never adopt from anyone else. I was so impressed with them that I became a volunteer.
Was told my kitten had "a kitty cold" and was given some respitory meds that not only made the starving boy throw up and sick, but kept him from eating while in foster care and my care for days on end. The vet said it was way too much and I was under the impression they were the ones who gave him the doses in the first place, but no. When I picked him up I could feel EVERY bone in his body. He wasn't eating, he had diarrhea, I had to syringe feed him three times a day for a week, he was VERY emancipated and close to death. He had undiagnosed worms and herpes and it got worse before it got better. Because of my ignorance to his undiagnosed issues my resident cat now has herpes and an eye infection. I've almost failed my summer classes taking care of them. Now he has skin lesions (allergies I hope) and I'm left with the bills. This could have been avoided if they had taken their kittens to the VET instead of diagnosing themselves and taking cheaper "over the counter" measures. Never adopt from these people unless you're looking for trouble. If you adopted from Petco around the end of June take that cat to the vet. They likely have herpes, or apparently aids like in another warning review.
Adopted two amazing cats. Can't judge this rescue on the volunteers but they do amazing work and have saved a lot of animals,
I have dealt with Jackie and Adopt An Angel is her LAST interest. I went to Petsense in Leland to adopt a cat. I was told they could only be adopted in pairs- the “cell mate). I thought that was crazy. I texted her twice and my husband sent one text. Finally after about a week we received a response “ they can only be adopted in pairs”. Now, if they were from the same litter and looked alike, I may have considered it, but that was not the case. I asked for her supervisor and/ or the store owner. I was given the name Sherry. I spoke with her and explained the situation. She was supposed to contact me back that evening, and, of course, I did not. My concern that kittens get adopted pretty quick, but it is harder for these poor cats to get loving homes, especially when you have to adopt 2 at a time. She really didn’t even listen or frankly care!! I also wish I didn’t even have to rate this place. I just feel very sorry for the cats that need a good home . They don’t care about the animals, they just want the money! Even the staff is concerned about the cats getting adopted. I will go over their heads and find the owners of both the store and Adopt An Angel…. this Is NOT RIGHT!!!!!!!!!! I purchased over $200 worth of cat and dogs and took it to the humane society the same day. Unfortunately I was unable to find the pet I was looking for- I will keep looking there- I will never go back to Petsense or purchase anything from them again!! BEWARE!!!!!!!!!
DO NOT ADOPT FROM HERE!
I wish I could give this Animal Shelter ZERO STARS!
First, Melinda is the worst person to deal with. She is extremely disrespectful and doesn't listen to you. According to her, she is always right. Second, my kitten passed away today (only 14 1/2 weeks old) and she claimed that it was my fault (she didn't say "I'm sorry for your loss" or had any type of remorse). She claimed that she was better than a vet because she's been fostering cats for 12 years. CLEARLY she isn't because this is the THIRD cat that had passed away that came from her foster home with feline aids. According to A REAL VETERINARIAN, feline aids can be (and should've been) detected at 4-5 weeks old (the kitten would have still been in her care at which we adopted her at 11 weeks old). She said that it was our fault and that the vet doesn't know a what they're talking about... then hung up on us. Third, my kitten suffered because Melinda didn't go through proper testing. My kitten would still be alive if she would've done her job and detected it earlier.
IF ANYONE ADOPTED A KITTEN FROM PETCO AROUND JUNE 5TH, PLEASE TAKE YOUR KITTEN TO THE VET TO GET HE/SHE CHECKED OUT FOR FELINE AIDS, IT COULD SAVE IT'S LIFE!
It's a shame that a grown lady can be so disgusting towards other people after I just lost my kitten. I wonder what she does to her animals. DON'T TRUST MELINDA!
Please don't adopt from Adopt An Angel!
