Great Rescue that goes above and beyond ! They have helped saved many in the area and pulled many off of death row in the narrow minded BSL counties surrounding us. They have always been there for me to help with any dog that comes across my path! I give them a HUGE 5 star!

I rescued my dog, Kali, through AAHA. It was a great experience, especially after recently losing my best boy. The screening process was easy. I was able to come and meet Kali and spend some time with her before proceeding with the adoption. They offer amazing support and help save dogs from a county that has breed-specific licensing. I have had Kali for two years and she is part of the family. If I ever think I have the time for a second dog, I will be going back to AAHA!

I recently adopted a dog from AAHA, named Rufus. This organization was very easy to work with and they reviewed my application quickly. They obviously took great care of Rufus and were able to tell me all about his history. They love hearing updates about how Rufus is doing. I have always found them to be a very kind and warm group of people and highly recommend them as a place to volunteer, adopt or donate.

I’m a foster fail for AAHA! Karley was coming to stay for the weekend of the 2016 Blizzard, well 5 years later she is now the Princess of the house. AAHA saves these “difficult “ dogs, the misunderstood, the troubled! I’ve never experienced such true dedication to these types of pups. AAHA goes the extra mile, once a dog becomes an AAHA dog they are our family we stay in touch, we care !
AAHA is a fantastic organization that goes above and beyond to help animals in need. They operate a great boarding facility where volunteers walk, train, and socialize the dogs. As a volunteer working independently, more than once I have been able to enlist them in facilitating adoptions and rescues of animals I identified who were in need. They regularly pull pit bulls and other dogs from the Prince George's County shelter, which due to archaic breed-specific legislation is sorely in need of these services.
Adopt A Homeless Animal Rescue is absolutely wonderful. It's run by passionate, compassionate leaders, trainers, and volunteers. Everyone I've met from AAHA is an exceptionally caring human being who loves animals with their whole heart. When friends seek to adopt a new family member, I refer them first to AAHA. I became acquainted with AAHA when the rescue saved a beautiful dog from sad circumstances who needed socialization. Lizzie sought a volunteer who would work with Liberty (pictured) to help her see that people can be good; that she is worthy of love. Lizzie carefully, patiently, and professionally introduced the two of us, and Liberty and I became fast friends. Others may have passed up this frightened girl, but Lizzie and AAHA gave her the very best life, the life she deserved. Every dog in their care is treated like Liberty, with the same love, devotion, positive reinforcement/training only, and hope for an amazing future.
We had an appt to meet Sadie at Tri County animal shelter! Before we could meet her AAHA pulled her as a rescue! I had Tri County send our info to AAHA! They contacted me and set up a meet and greet. The rest is history! We adopted our precious pittie the same day and have LOVED her like crazy since ❤️
I have worked with AAHA for the last eight years and it has been a wonderful experience! What drew me to this group was the kindness and dedication that I saw in all aspects of animal rescue. Rescue can be tough at times, but working with such an exceptional group of volunteers has made the load so much lighter. We are grateful for our awesome volunteers who help us to carry out our mission of helping homeless animals, particularly the more difficult ones that need more of our time, energy and patience! I adopted Nick shown here who was a foster fail and has taught me so much about dogs and how they can change given a chance!
We were very thankful to come upon a listing for our latest adoption from AAHA, Sprout. Visiting the shelter and noticing right away the love of the caretakers and trainers made it an obvious choice for our family that we would be lifelong supporters. We have donated and held fundraisers for the pups, and will always support the caring souls that rescue these poor animals. There are shelters everywhere, but our hearts belong to the pups and people at AAHA.

I adopted my sweet boy Tank through AAHA in July of 2019. They really know their dogs and how to match someone with the right dog. I’d act gone up there to meet another dog (who turned out not a good match for me). They then introduced me to Tank, whose perfect for me, and my best friend.
I adopted both of my pitties from here. From the second you meet them you are officially apart of their family. The staff made us feel so welcomed and they truly care about all of the dogs. They keep in touch after adoption to make sure you don’t need anything and they go above and beyond not only for the dogs but for you as well.
I adopted my pup from AAHA 2 years ago and am so grateful that they exist. My dog Arya was saved from a county where pit bulls are banned so she wouldn't be here today without their generosity and care. They often take in dogs that wouldn't have a chance elsewhere and shower them with love and patience until they can find the perfect forever home. They really make sure to find the right fit for the dogs in their care and then provide resources and support for adopters to increase the chances of a successful transition. It's all volunteer run and everyone is amazing - 2 years later they still ask about my pup and she wiggles her butt like crazy when she sees them! Hands down the most caring group and overall wonderful organization.

There is no drama, no agenda. Just a group of good, hardworking people trying to give worthy animals a shot at a glorious life. AAHA trains dogs and their owners, verifies that references are checked, provides resources and support. I have loved being a part of AAHA.
Adopt A Homeless Animal Rescue, also known as AAHA, is an amazing rescue run by a great group of dedicated volunteers. I had such a fantastic experience adopting my dog, Minnie, from them that I became a volunteer. The volunteer experience is so rewarding and so appreciated by the rescue.
