We visited Crested Butte earlier this month (January 2023) and had signed up my daughter for what turned out to be a life-changing experience! Sophia is 22 and lives with Cerebral Palsy and Type 1 diabetes. She is wheelchair dependent and has multiple physical challenges. The staff at the Adaptive Sports Center was absolutely amazing. The process of fitting her for a chair was very organized and quick. So before we knew it, she was off to the slopes. The girls took her on a total of nine runs in just one day. Sophia had one of the happiest and mind blowing days of her young life as a result!
My children were all born and raised in Hawaii and I have lived on Oahu for over 30 years now. Growing up in Germany, I had always been an avid skier and mountain fanatic and I am so, so happy that my little girl finally got to experience the thrill of skiing herself. A huge Mahalo (Thank You) to the entire staff for making miracles like this happen. We definitely will be back!

I credit the Adaptive Sports Center with changing my life. I started as a client in 1997 and am currently Board President. Having lived with a chronic illness for 20 years which left me with numerous damaged joints, I never dreamed that I would be doing the things I can do now with the help of ASC. Skiing, rock and ice climbing, hiking, fishing; the list goes on. But the most important result was the feelings of accomplishment and self confidence i developed as a client of ASC.

The difference ASC makes in people's lives is extraordinary. The dramatic impact on a client is seen on both a physical and an emotional level. It is typically manifested in new-found feelings of confidence and independence.

Both the administrative staff and the instructors truly have the best interests of the clients in their hearts and it is reflected in all that they do. Their combined energy, skill, and compassion make the Adaptive experience a meaningful and beneficial part of client's lives.

Both my wife and I have been volunteering and donating for the last few years. We consider it a privilege to be part of an organization that has such a positive and productive influence on so many lives.

This year will be my 3rd winter season volunteering at Adaptive. I spend one day in the office and one day on the snow each week. With the encouragement from a couple of friends that are instructors, I signed up to explore the program and after my first season I was hooked. This organization, by far, is all about the clients and providing the best overall experience possible. To be part of this is one of the most rewarding things I have done in my life. The real reward is when I watch a client work through a challenging situation and then far exceed their own expectations. Equally gratifying is watching the instructors and staff fit a client to specific equipment, accommodate each special need, and then watch the client just shine on the slopes. The client's huge smile or tears of joy expresses their feelings of success. This organization excels at giving back and improving lives.

Adaptive has exhibited remarkable success in improving the lives of its clients through outdoor recreation . The employees and volunteers who work for the organization provide supportive personal attention to the clients amplifying the naturally positive experience of the recreational experience.
The repeated success of this organization is the reason I am happy to devote my time and money to assure it continues to perform its mission.

We discovered ASC when my daughter was 8 (she is now 18). She has a wide variety of issues (ADHD, CP, processing, and sensory). ASC has helped my daughter achieve her goals of skiing, recumbent biking, hiking Mnt Crested Butte, kayaking and much more. ASC has also taught my typical kids how to ski and rock climb. We look at ASC as our family. They have made it possibly for my family to participate in the outdoors and have shared experiences.

Over the last ten years I have seen adaptive grow and expand while serving a wide variety of clients with kindness, patience and creativity. Four years ago I was asked to join the board and jumped at the opportunity. I am continually amazed at the kindness, experience and sensitivity Adaptive shows for its participants.

The Adaptive Sports Center is a premier and growing enterprise with a compelling Mission, over 97% client satisfaction, and a strong financial position.

The diverse national Board has excellent leadership with an appropriate balance of individuals with business, medical, legal, and client backgrounds. Board self-assessments are conducted annually and are used to continuously improve the Board's performance.

The Staff is extraordinary with unusual stability for a non-profit of the organization's size. The Senior Leadership Team has been in place for over 5 years and has provided consistent direction and continuity to the organization.

I have been involved with the Adaptive Sports Center as a volunteer, Board Member, and donor for 10 years. I consider it to be the best performing and functioning organization I have been associated with in over 25 years of work with both national and international non-profits.
