Adagio Health professionals are kind and understanding. They are non-judgemental. They have helped so many women who would otherwise forgo pap smears, breast exams and mammograms because of the cost. I was a patient there, first in 1979, before I was employed there. I have continued to get my exams there, ever since. I am a nurse practitioner with commercial health insurance...and I choose Adagio Health.

Before I was employed by Adagio Health, 31 years ago, I was first a patient here, and still am. I am a Nurse Practitioner in women's health and am proud to be a part of the Adagio Health team. I know from my experience as a patient and a provider of womens' health care at Adagio Health, that we are committed to our clients, and our mission. At our office, in addition to providing ob-gyn services we are an integral part of our town. For the past two years we have gathered several hundred formal dresses, that our daughters, their friends and others have donated. We sponsored events before prom and homecoming, during which girls could choose a dress for free, while at the same time receive information about our services.
Adagio Health has made it a point to see that I get Mammogram screenings that I need. I found a lump on my breast this month and I was scared, however they got me in for screening and it was a fluid lump that should go away. Now all I need is information on how to help it go away. I feel better knowing that it is just fluid but I have not been able to find anything on this particular problem. All staff of Adagio are great people and they far exceed their job expectations. Thank you.
I can’t say enough about the myriad of services Adagio Health offers in the greater Pittsburgh area and throughout Western PA via their satellite offices. Whether insured or uninsured, Adagio Health provides high-quality health care to women and their families. Adagio also offers educational programs in the schools and the communities. As someone who resides in northwestern, PA, it’s reassuring to know that their excellent services are available in rural areas. Bottom line, Adagio Health is a tremendous asset to our region.
I am proud to be a board member of this wonderful agency. What convinced me to accept a position on the board was the fact that Adagio Health provides essential health care to underinsured and uninsured women. It also provides breast and cervical cancer screening, nutrition education, community education and transitional housing for homeless women and their young children. Within the Community Education Department is the Center for Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention whose goal is to reduce pregnancy, STDs and HIV among adolescents in western PA. I am constantly impressed with the staff's professionalism, knowledge and dedication to the agency's mission.
Review from The Pittsburgh Foundation
Adagio provides necessary health care services to women who may otherwise not have access to required care. These services are invaluable to prevent, diagnose or assist in treatment. Thank you Adagio for enhancing women's health services!
The word adagio means graceful and at ease. Adagio’s approach to women’s health, prevention, education and community embodies grace and ease with seasoned staff providing personalized care and services and building relationships with clients. Adagio is a compassionate and high quality provider of obstetrics and gynecology services, breast and cervical cancer screening, STD testing and treatment, nutrition counseling, teen pregnancy prevention, HIV prevention, and community education in 32 counties of western Pennsylvania. Whether insured, underinsured or uninsured, a cadre of friendly, kind and experienced staff provides accessible and comprehensive care for all women and families. In the dynamic and ever-changing world of health care, Adagio Health is a stalwart provider and advocate for their clients throughout all phases and stages of life. A provider, a teacher and an advocate for women’s health and the health of families, Adagio’s work deserves applause, support and donations.
There are so many worthy causes, so many groups with critical needs facing shrinking resources, that it is difficult to decide where to donate limited time and money. My choice was simple upon learning of Adagio's broad spectrum of programs serving the ever-increasing ranks of uninsured and underinsured women and families. What distinguishes Adagio, beyond the immediate benefits of providing meaningful access to health care, are the long-term and lasting benefits that Adagio’s programs deliver to so many, including nutritional, preventive and educational services, residential and support programs, research and advocacy. Donations to further the mission of Adagio Health have far-reaching and significant impacts throughout Western Pennsylvania.
Review from The Pittsburgh Foundation
Adagio Health delivers an extensive array of services to women in a broad demographic and serves women without discrimination of race, sex, disability, sexual orientation , finances or ability to pay. They provide a high quality of care and promote education and awareness when other health providers don't. The impact in this community is enormous and measurable. In this age of political pushback and economic concerns, this agency is on the cutting edge and doing the right thing. Board Members and Volunteers are a diverse group of individuals and represent the most progressive, forward thinking approach to health care delivery for women.
As an employee of Adagio Health since 1978 in a variety of roles including finance, program, and administration, I have always been impressed with the enthusiasm evidenced by both board and staff members as they strive to further our mission. All of our programs help enable people to live healthier lives and to understand how they can play a key role in maintaining or achieving better health for themselves, their families, and their communities. Reproductive health services, nutrition services, cancer screening services, and preventive health education services define the breadth of our program efforts. By stewarding federal and state support in conjunction with client fees, insurance reimbursments, and foundation support, we have been able to assure that our services are available regardless of a person's ability to pay. By collaborating with hospitals, community health centers, and other nonprofit providers, to deliver care, we have been able to make these services accessible throughout western Pennsylvania. Support from donors helps to assure that these services will remain available and accessible to persons seeking these services, regardless of their ability to pay. And support from donors helps to illustrate acceptance for these important services, especially in times when reproductive health services are under attack from those wishing to capitalize politically.
As we hear rants from public figures attempting to agitate the populace against women and their access to specific health needs, Adagio Health has--for 42 years!-- quietly and compassionately gone about its unwavering mission to provide critical services for tens of thousands of women and their families in Western Pennsylvania. Women who might otherwise be without quality comprehensive healthcare, including: obstetrics and gynecology, breast and cervical cancer screening, STD testing and treatment, nutrition counseling, teen pregnancy prevention, HIV prevention, sexuality education for teens, community education, parent education. Adagio Health makes an enormous, yet generally under-appreciated, impact on so many throughout our region. Rather than seek flashy headlines or engage in self-serving publicity stunts, they focus--every day--on the demanding and important work at hand. Their motivation is simple--to provide excellent care for women who need it--period. As a physician living in Pittsburgh for over two decades, I was among the many who simply had not heard of Adagio Health--until recently when invited to participate on an Adagio medical oversight committee, and then, subsequently, to join the Adagio Board. I felt two responses: (1) shame on me for taking so long to appreciate this amazing organization, its dedicated staff, and phenomenal impact on women's health; and (2) what an honor it was to be invited to work with such committed people to further improve and extend the impact of Adagio Health. Hopefully, more and more people will begin to appreciate and support the "jewel" that we are blessed to have in our region. While politicians and zealots roil in competition for limelight, it is gratifying to know that there exist organizations like Adagio that rise above such trivial behaviors and, instead, "do good" for so many deserving people "without discrimination on the basis of race, disability, sexual orientation, financial ability, religion, age, sex, or marital status". Everyone should be proud to encourage Adagio to "keep up the great work"!
Adagio is a wonderful organization. It is at the forefront of providing affordable care for all of women's health needs. It serves over 75,000 women in 23 counties of Western PA. It has a caring and dedicated staff. In the new world of heath care Adagio is well positioned to offer exceptional delivery of services at a much lower cost than traditional healthcare facilities. It deserves our support and recognition for the work that they do. I am proud to be a board member.
Adagio is an agency that goes beyond the usual health care to providing support and education. Although the emphasis is women, the services reach families as well as individuals and provide options for taking personal responsibility. Nutrition Services by credentialed professionals are a strength that is not emphasized in other health care programs. Supporting Adagio is supporting prevention!
As a family physician, I see people every day who our health care system leaves behind, unable to afford medications, diagnostic tests, and doctor visits. Adagio Health exists to help people, including those without other resources, to meet their family planning and cancer screening and diagnosis needs. Add to that the work Adagio Health does in pregnancy prevention, and community and nutrition education, and you'll see that this is one terrific organization! As a board member, I am proud to play a small role in Adagio Health's success. You can play a role, too. Your donation means that a woman with an abnormal mammogram and a lot of fear and anxiety will get the care she needs. Thanks for your help!
I am proud to be associated with Adagio Health. Our services help care for, educate, nourish and house people in need throughout western PA. In our medical offices, quality comprehensive women's health care is delivered with respect and is provided to all women regardless of insurance status. Our nutrition services include the WIC (Women, Infants and Children) supplemental nutrition program and Power Up, a nutrition education program provided at no cost to local schools. Our Community Education Department houses the Center for Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention which helps young people live healthy lives and avoid risky behaviors.
I have worked in women's health for over 30 years. I have experienced and been a partner with many non-profits in Pittsburgh. The staff, services and accessibility of Adagio Health are by far one of the best! Women are welcomed, treated with respect and given high quality healthcare.
