This theater group was the highlight of my Son's summer! He had such a blast participating in his first play. I was amazed that after an all day practice, he was still wanting MORE! We had a very positive experience and would recommend it to any of our friends.
We were so excited to find a children's performing group that didn't have performances or practices on Sundays. This was my daughters second time to perform with a group and she was so excited! As a parent I was very impressed with the quality of the performance. The staff and cast were wonderful and my daughter had a great experience. We look forward to doing more with AYT.
I have had the opportunity to work with Actors Youth Theatre (AYT) for a very long time now. They gave me my first real part in a show and truly showed me what it is to be on stage. I've learned more then i can even tell, from them, and have made many life-long friends. I think above all what i truly love is their dedication to better the lives of others. They don't just put on a show and have fun, although we always do, they take each show as an opportunity to change someone's life, or brighten their day, or put into words something they couldn't express themselves. AYT was a way for me to express myself and really fall in love with theatre. Because of them i'm addicted and i don't ever want to go back. If you want your child to get the entire theatre experience this is one of the very few places that they can get it.
Professionally managed and the handling of the children is age appropriate, not to mention fun and educational. I have yet to see the production, however, I am confident that the show will be a success. Very positive atmosphere with realistic expectations for the actors.
My brother was friends with someone who was involved with AYT, and we saw one of the shows. I loved the feeling of watching the show, so I auditioned for the next play. I didn't make it, but I kept trying, and I made one of their earlier shows, Once on This Island. It was probably the first time I really ever felt good about myself. The atmosphere was fun, positive, and enjoyable. I've auditioned for just about every show since then, and the shows I didn't make I've been on stage crew, because I love AYT so much that I want to be as involved as possible. The directors are so fun and nice, that I don't want to miss out on anything. I hope that soon I get more opportunities to take on more responsibility and get more involved. I would strongly recommend getting signed up for an audition because everyone I know that has been involved in AYT have enjoyed their experience and come back.
My husband and I have been only peripherally involved with the running of AYT. Our daughter Kristin, son-in-law Chris and two grandsons Nick and Trevor, have been heavily involved for many years. Kristin has been President of the Board and is now General Manager of the company. The boys have been in many productions, and Chris has been a backstage worker, set builder, as well as videographer for the shows. We have attended MANY of AYT's productions over the years and have appreciated the excellence these shows attain. The youth cast/crew members learn so much about live theater. They learn from hands-on experiences, not sitting in classrooms listening to lectures. This high-quality company deserves a big pat on the back for working so beautifully with the talented young people who audition, perform and also work backstage. KUDOS to AYT! Dennis and Sue Smith
My son's friend invited us to an AYT show several years ago and I was so impressed I signed him up for the next audition. He was cast in that play and had the best time. He made great friends and his confidence grew. His younger brother then auditioned and we've been part of AYT now ever since. The productions are so good. The talent of these young actors is amazing! The directors are very fair in their casting and look for the actors who fit the parts best - whether they've been with AYT before or not. Each cast is like a family. It's a wonderful group to be part of!
I am seasoned actress with Actors Youth Theatre, and I am currently participating in my ninth production with them. I started at only nine years old and was cast as ensemble for The Three Musketeers. AYT is a huge part of my life and my career, and without the faith all the members of the company have in me, I wouldn't be this trained in my passion for the arts. The directors, choreographers, voice teachers and every participant are truly welcoming and wonderful people. Actors Youth Theatre is the door to many opportunities from finding life-long friends to being trained in every aspect of the arts. All of the shows are incredibly professional and entertaining, the sets and costumes are magnificent, and the directors know exactly what they're talking about. I have had the pleasure to participate in life-changing shows that teach me so much. AYT has done so many things for me, and I know that because of them, I have become the actress that I am today.
My daughter was chosen as an orphan in Annie. I was so surprised that she landed a part when AYT had never met her and chose her from her first audition with them. So many of the other studios in the valley are so political and only choose actors they know from classes, workshops or from their friends or family, or church. It gets so discouraging, but AYT is so fair and is truly looking for talent. They also don't charge any fees for your child to participate which I find so many other studios do. This seems to only allow the kids with money to perform. AYT is not about that! It's so refreshing to NOT have to show up with a check in hand!!! They need more volunteers and funding which they try to obtain through fundraisers. They are all wonderful people running the show throughout! From the dependable and outstanding President, to the most talented directors, to the people who answer the phone. Nothing but kindness and professionalism.
I have often wondered what I can credit my confidence and love for theatre to and I have always come up with the same answer; Actors Youth Theatre. I had just moved to the valley at the age of 10 before I became involved with AYT. I was the most insecure kid you could ever meet. The feeling of being accepted by everyone you meet is one of inexplicable joy. I cannot describe how touched I am, and how grateful I am to be a part of this theatre. I do not live with my parents and am often in need of a stable home, one I can always find with my AYT family. I cannot think of a place run by more selfless people who love what they do. I am amazed at how far I have come with the support of this family and owe so much to them. I wish there were a more immediate way to repay them not for blessing my life, but this is my earnest contribution. God bless AYT!
I discovered Actors Youth Theatre through some friends this past summer and have already been in two amazing shows. It's so great to be able to spend time at rehearsals doing what you love and meeting new people that share your passion for theatre! I've met so many amazing, talented people that I still keep in touch with, though its been months since our last show together. I have a whole family there and I really feel like being part of AYT's productions enhance my musical theatre talents. I get better and better each performance with them. The shows are always of excellent quality and the directors make everyone feel important no matter how big your role is. I love this theatre! It's like a second home and I can't wait for the next show!
I discovered Actor's Youth Theatre (AYT) a few years ago and I have been blessed by the experiences I've had with them since then. After attending my first audition with them for the show Oliver Twist, I was cast as a supporting character. I knew right away that I have found a home away from home. Since then I have performed in 4 other shows and I have gained unforgettable memories from each production. AYT has helped me grow as a performer and a person. I have participated in other community theatre productions, and AYT far exceeds any other. They give young people a chance to do what they love and gain many life-long friends and experiences. I can never fully repay AYT for what they have done for me and I am so grateful that I have the opportunity to perform with them.
We were introduced to Actors Youth Theatre two years ago. My 11-year-old son is now in his sixth production with them, and I have also had two daughters perform and participate in workshops. The productions are always so polished. Everything comes together so well with the scenery, beautiful costumes, fun choreography, great artistic touches with the acting and special effects. I am proud to bring my neighbors and extended family to the performances. I am especially grateful for the wholesome environment. The directors and board members are so kind and considerate of both the cast and their parents. They are optimistic, flexible, encouraging, fun, and so committed and talented at what they do. They have given my children so many wonderful opportunities to recognize and develop their gifts to perform, act, dance, and sing. They leave rehearsals and performances feeling good about themselves and wanting to work harder and contribute more. Actors Youth Theatre has helped instill in them a great work ethic, to follow through with their commitments and to be conscientious contributors to the group. I highly recommend all that Actors Youth Theatre is doing. They are a great asset to the community.
We found Actors Youth Theatre in 2005 when my daughter was 9. We were new to the area and heard of AYT though a school flyer. My daughter auditioned and made the cast list as an extra in The Three Musketeers, and forged friendships with fellow cast members that last today. What a wonderful community! AYT staff is committed to enriching the lives of children, and their training programs are excellent. In addition to several plays/musicals per year, they also offer summer workshops and classes to help students become better actors. It's amazing what those kids can pull off in a week's time -- shows like Hairspray and The Lion King. My daughter is now a teenager and she has grown so much in her acting craft. Her goal is to be on Broadway someday. She auditions for AYT plays and musicals whenever she can. As an author married to a musician, I and my family have a great appreciation for the arts. We've been fortunate enough to be able to donate to AYT, and will continue to do so. This wonderful program has made such a difference in the lives of so many kids and teens, including my daughter. I'm a huge fan.
