Ten years ago my daughter was in the production Pinocchio and she wanted to come back to The ACT. She was recently in two productions this summer; The Wizard of Oz and Thoroughly Modern Millie! She enjoyed every minute of it and made so many great new friends. I also got involved and volunteered. I recommend this community theatre for anyone wanting to get involved in theatre, or get their children involved. It is affordable entertainment for children and adults alike!
Our family has been participating in the wonderful children's theater since 2013. It is the most affordable children's theater in our area, which is a blessing when you have several children participating. More importantly, my children have grown in confidence, made friends, and become more poised and articulate. Theater has prepared them to tackle public speaking with confidence and to perform with enthusiasm and joy. The staff see the kids as individuals and truly care about each one of them, and have programs to train teens in how to run theaters themselves. It is an amazing place!
The ACT is a special place that does a wonderful job preparing young performers. I've had the privilege of contributing my services in numerous capacities (choreographer, set designer, makeup designer, costuming) and am always impressed with the volume and quality of talent and service this small Theatre manages to attract and produce. Performers and their families donate time to build sets and costumes and maintain the theatre. I am amazed by the heart, consideration and care that goes into every choice that is made. The board members and staff make every decision based on their mission statement. The well being and development of each child Actor that enters into that theatre is their central focus. Here I have worked with children with special needs, as well as those who work professionally at other theatres. Kindness, respect, and personal responsibility are key values integrated into The ACT culture. There is a place for everyone to learn grow and when at The ACT.
The Actors Conservatory Theatre is an amazing organization that truly cares about children. We have been a part of the ACT for 5 years and all three of my children have benefitted tremendously. Every child that auditions for a show is given a part and the board and directors work endlessly to help each of them grow in confidence and character. This nonprofit has made a huge impact on our family and we will be forever grateful for the learning and life experiences we have had here.
We found The ACT 2 years ago, when we was looking for an extracurricular activity to help my daughter learn some new skills and develop socially. We did not expect to find a family! In addition to learning to act, sing, and dance, my daughter has made lifelong friends. She has grown in confidence, has learned to manage her own schedule, has become responsible for preparing for rehearsal (including packing snacks, proper attire, and rehearsing material independently), she has helped build sets, sew costumes, cleaned and cared for the Theatre, and learned to reach out to newcomers and be inclusive. Once afraid to walk into an unfamiliar environment and talk to strangers, she now eagerly prepares for auditions, sets goals, copes with the disappointment of not getting roles she wanted (while still being excited for her friends that were cast instead), and humbly accepts roles she has been honored to perform. The staff is genuinely invested in the total development of each child, to create learning experiences that extend beyond the play itself, and to help equip them with life skills. The Parent Volunteer program enlists the talent of each family in the creation of each production and builds camaraderie within the families and a partnership with the Theatre. Our time at The ACT has been a priceless, unique experience and we look forward to being there for many years to come!
The Actors Conservatory Theatre truly reaches the needs of our community in a way that never ceases to amaze me. From main stage productions, classes and camps their staff is always ready to embrace children and teens with arms open and attitudes ready to teach in any circumstance or at any level. They produce quality productions that will send you on a fun loving journey through Disney's classics and hysterical plays. The ACT is an outstanding place to perform and work at, and I am very grateful for my involvement with them.
We LOVE this theatre and everything about it! Our whole family has been involved with The ACT for five years. We have made lifetime friends and lifetime memories. It is not only just a theatre that produces outstanding musicals/plays but it is a community of children, teens, young adults and parents who all get involved and all work together to put on quality musicals/plays that are filled with colorful costumes, fun choreography, singing and dancing and beautiful stories. Whether you are an audience member coming into the theater to enjoy a show or whether your family gets involved in a production The Actors Conservatory will most definitely fill your heart with memories!
This theatre has gone from a fun time to family, I have enjoyed seeing my children grow in their confidence and self esteem through the skills they’re learning and we’ve all made so many friends along the way. I used to say you won’t find a better theatre experience for the money but after experiencing other children’s theatres in the area I can, without hesitation, say you won’t find a better theatre experience, period.
Fantastic and inclusive children's theatre that churns out quality entertainment for the surrounding communities! The entire staff works tirelessly to make sure it is a fun and safe space for children ages 5-18 to learn the art of theatre! I absolutely love this place and I can't wait to see the next production!
I am an actor at this wonderful theatre and it is an amazing place to be at! They care about everyone that walks into their building and they put on amazing shows!! Highly recommend:)
ACT in Lewisville does a fabulous job with the talent and resources they have available. They have grown so much in the last year. Every performance I watch bring tears whether my child is in it or not as each performance and person involved in wonderful. True family experience.
I've been with this theatre for over four years now, and the growth it has experienced is amazing. The ACT empowers youth to experience theatre and shine on stage and off. I really couldn't be more grateful to be a part of the family.
I was looking for something for my daughter to do over the summer and she loves acting, I found their web page and signed her up for a 2 week summer camp. She's never worked harder and was actually excited about it. She performed in her first musical, Thoroughly Modern Millie and will be performing in the Music Man, Jr. In October. Everyone has been so nice and welcoming to my daughter and our family. They are so good with the kids and put on a great show!!!
The ACT has provided an enriching social environment for my child, along with inexpensive and accessible theatre for the community. Thank you.
I love the ACT! I came to the theater this summer for my first show there and they welcomed me like family. After my first show I decided to another that summer. Now, I have an audition at the end of this month. Love the people and the theater!
My children became involved with The Actors Conservatory Theatre 12 years ago and we are still involved to this date! They are older now, but we all participate in some way. I personally help at this theatre on almost a daily basis because it adds value to the lives of children, families, and our community. This is a great place for children to grow and thrive and entire families to be involved. Through parents and families volunteering, a child can be in a main stage musical production for only $60, including a costume and 8 weeks of training/rehearsals & performances. Every child who wants to participate is given the opportunity. This is truly a great nonprofit!
