Mission: Act for alexandria is a community foundation which seeks to raise the level and effectivenss of community giving and engagement for the benefit of all of alexandria.
Programs: Spirng2action 2014-act conducted its annual day of giving to support alexandria-based nonprofits. The program netted $1,031,282 for the 121 participating nonprofits. While these unrestricted contributions assisted the local nonprofits, training in online skills for fundraising will be of value throughout the year.
community investment grants-act annually awards strategy implementation grants to alexandria nonprofits through a competitive application process. Funds to support these grants come from the act community investment fund. Grants are also awarded from donor advised funds and are not restricted to alexandria-based nonprofits although approximately 65% of the grants from such funds go to organizations assisting our community.
action alexandria-this web 2. 0 platform designed to engage alexandrians on community issues completed its fourth year of operation in partnership with the city of alexandria. Action continues to provide an important online tool for the city and local nonprofit organizations.
