Programs: Food pantry - the average family benefiting has from 3 to 4 individuals & about 50% are single parent families. Each family receives about 40 pounds of food which is an estimated 5 to 7 day supply, valued at $30 per 20# bag. In 2014 we fed 4,620 families, including 13,662 individuals, with a total of 9,240 bags of groceries, which is about 184,800 pounds of food, with an estimated market value of $323,400. thrift store provides affordable used household goods to needy families, which includes clothing and baby supplies. Inventory is donated goods. Excess cash flow used to support the food pantry. Thrift store & food pantry is staffed entirely by volunteers. Thrift store pays all expenses of having a store front from thrift store revenues. There is no cost of goods sold for thrift store as merchandise is all donated at no cost to operations.
building fund has been used to acquire fixed assets, including real estate, furniture, fixtures, & equipment. We purchased a 6,960 square foot building at 8925 e m-72, williamsburg, mi, in may 2012, and then opened the new building up for service on october 1, 2012. Much of the labor was donated by volunteers.
