My experience with the Achievement Center of Texas includes being a volunteer as well as a donor, but mostly I am a fan! The spirit of this organization is alive and smiling!! I love the enthusiasm of the staff and the students. It is obvious to everyone that enters that this is a place where love lives. Five stars are not enough!!
I love the love at ACT! Over the many years that I have been involved as a supporter of ACT, I love being onsite to see the love and care that the staff and volunteers give to their clients. They care so much about each and every one, and work hard to make every day a loving and happy experience for them.
Achievement center is the best the staff really cares about you and you child. They are a great group of people they go above and beyond every day. Makes you feel good to know you child/adult is true considered a real person not just a number.
The achievement center is s life savor for our family. It allows me to work and know that my daughter is safe and well taken care of. My daughter has health issues the requires her to take medication during the day know the the staff understands her needs give me peace of mind. I don’t know what I would do if the achievement center was not there. I thank them for giving me the ability to work and have my daughter be somewhere that improves her quality of life. You guys are the best!
My daughter gets so excited when we pull up in the parking lot at ACT every morning. She loves the sensory lab! She enjoys 5he community outings and th3 staff work well with her.
I have been privileged to know many of the folks who help Achievement Center of Texas ("ACT") function day-to-day. These people are kind, dedicated professionals who have chosen to help ACT reach its goals of serving and empowering some of our community's most vulnerable individuals. ACT's leadership is solid--from its driven and experienced Executive Director to its engaged Board of Directors. Most importantly, ACT's leadership is committed to continually assessing its operation and finding room for improvement. I am so happy to be involved with this organization, and I really look forward to seeing how ACT continues to positively impact its community for years to come.
Thank God, we found ACT when our son started high school. We were simply hoping for good care and safety. What we found were loving caregivers that encourage him to flourish. They focused on his interests and built opportunities around his needs. Five stars is not near enough. When asked I joined the Board to be an active part of this great organization. ACT lives up to its motto, "Special Needs, Our Specialty."
The Achievement Center of Texas is truly a place that cares about their clients, their goal is to provide a healthy and happy environment for their consumers. ACT has been in the community for over 40 years and has grown from a small church to providing services to over 140 students daily with disabilities. The students involved in this program love the services and programs offered whether it be the hip-hop dance class or going on volunteer outings. ACT spends much of their time giving back to the community. We believe our students can and should give back to their community. Our students look forward to coming to the center each day because of the new and exciting programs that get to be apart of and which enables them to learn new skills daily. I have worked for ACT for over 10 years and in that short time I have seen the programs grow and evolve. I am proud to be apart of such a wonderful organization and look forward to see where they go next.
The Achievement Center really is a special place. Walking through the doors and being greeted by the most amazing students is enough to brighten anyone’s day. The staff is committed to providing a safe and fun environment. From the themed days to all the other events they have, everyone is always having a good time. I love being a part of the Achievement Center!
ACT has been a life-maker-possible for my family. Our son Jeff has been a student there for over 17 years ACT's teachers and staff have shown him love and respect, and worked with him to develop his skills. It is extremely comforting to know that a loved one is getting the kind of attention and affection that you would give him/her were you with her/him all day. ACT is central to Jeff's happiness and have allowed the rest of his family the ability to pursue their interests/work during the day while caring for him at night.
I'm a parent of an ACT student, but it is so much a part of our lives that I became a board member and fund-raiser. I couldn't believe in it or its mission more if I tried.
The Achievement Center of Texas is an awesome place of learning for our daughter Stefani. She has so much interaction with people not only at the school, but with others in the community when she goes on activities outside of the school. She loves her dance class and instructor. She was Dorothy in ACT's summer show The Wizard of Oz. The show was brilliant how they included all the students possible in various roles in the different scenes. I laughed, I cried, I cheered! This center has been a blessing to Stefani and to our family!
ACT has been a lifesaver for my family. When my Noah got too heavy for a regular babysitter to lift him my world came crashing down. I had no idea what I was going to do. Who would watch him while I worked? Me staying home wasn’t even an option. I have no family here either. I remember googling and finding their info, called them and was greeted by Mrs. Rose. I remember being in tears and just spilling my guts to her and begging her to help us. I was put on a waiting list and not too long after that God opened a door and my Noah was able to get in. I have peace of mind that when Noah is there he is not only being properly cared for but he is also being loved. The attention to detail with him and the willingness to work with me in any given situation...I just can’t be thankful enough. ACT is part of our Life and I hope my Noah can continue going for many years to come. Very thankful for this place
They are the best place for our daughter. She has been going to ACT for approximately 10 years. The staff is very caring and she is totally in a safe place to interact with others.
My son, Sam, attends the Achievement Center of Texas. I can tell they really care about him and strive to help him be more independent. It isn’t easy to find such a positive environment for adults with disabilities. I am so thankful for the difference the Achievement Center is making in my son’s life!
I got involved with ACT because they truly care about their clients and go all out to service their needs. They go far and above what is expected or required in their service level. They also are on the forefront of technology such as robots helping the clients learn. They want to increase each client's skills to the maximum level.
The Achievement Center of Texas held their 9th Special Arts Festival bringing in artists and performers from all over North Texas to inspire people with special needs to find self-expression through the arts. It was a tremendous day of discovery with 33 live stage performances, 40 tables of exhibitions and art activities. ACT's own performance group called Unique Inspirations performed 6 numbers (4 group and 2 solos) along with many other performers like Lisa Smith, KadieLynn, Rick Richards, Sharon Quintal, Randy Davis, and, of course the highlight of the day was John Bramblitt, internationally recognized blind artist who painted while he live-streamed the event on YouTube. John Bramblitt lost his sight due to a seizure condition, but trained himself to be an artist. He is also an author and lecturer, inspiring people to never give up. We had a packed house and lots of fun as we inspired others while being inspired ourselves. The event was sponsored by the Garland Cultural Arts Commission.
The Achievement Center of Texas is always finding new and innovative means to provide training for their children and adults with disabilities. This year, in a collaboration with Robokind, a company who develops robots to help children with autism, the Achievement Center purchased their robot Milo (or R25) to gain the attention of their students who find it difficult to interact with humans, but will interact with the robot and tablets, so they can learn basic social skills and other much needed skills to help them develop socially, emotionally and intellectually.
I began working for this charity more than 5 years ago as a teacher in one of the classrooms. The atmosphere of the Achievement Center of Texas caught my heart and the infectious smiles has kept me coming back ever since. The Achievement Center of Texas, in my opinion, is the best and most rounded program in the DFW area. The center does its best to serve all clients and all disabilities; we try very hard to never have to turn anyone away. It is abundantly clear that those who work for the center enjoy their jobs and believe in the mission of ACT. The family atmosphere of the Achievement Center of Texas is inviting and heartwarming for the clients and the families of the clients. The Achievement Center of Texas offers a safe environment for their clients and works diligently to improve their program. The Achievement Center of Texas has a wonderfully stocked library with computers for clients to use, a lifeskills lab, a beautiful garden, and a sensory motor training lab. ACT is a great program and is one that should be checked out if you are ever looking for a center for your loved one.
I have been involved in ACT sence 1999. I do not know of another organization that does a better job of taking care of their clients then thay do. They have an excellent staff and they are very caring. They try to involve each and every client in some type of actativity. If I had a child with needs, I would want that child to be able to attend ACT!!
My autistic grandson began attending the Achievement Center of Texas during school summer breaks starting when he was 6 years old. The changes in his attitude, interaction with other children, and his family changed in such a positive way it was truly remarkable. We felt so blessed to have found this special organization that improved the lives of so many children and adults with a variety of special needs and worked so hard to help them become as independent as their "special abilities" would allow them. My grandson is now 20 years old and a much better person thanks to the Achievement Center of Texas.
For the last several years I have proudly sat on the board of this exceptional organization to help in any way I can to support the efforts of the center. Achievement Center of Texas is now in its 35th year of operation and has helped many families cope with the demanding needs of raising these very special children. The director and staff are lovely and loving people who truly care about their students and have created a program that lets each person achieve their full potential.
Achievement Center of Texas is a life changing experience for the students that attend. They truly blossum and become all that they can be thanks to the truly wonderful staff!
Before I was a board member I helped with fund raising activities for Achievement Center of Texas. I believed in the services being provided and knew several of the students and parents from my volunteer time with another non profit providing similar services.
Special attention by the staff ensures students are able to identify, nurture and express their unique talents through the Special Arts Program. Many students would never know they have a special talent much less express that talent if not for attending Achievement Center of Texas.
It was an easy decision to join the board where each volunteer board member is dedicated to making Achievement Center of Texas the best it can be.
This organization, now called the Achievement Center of Texas has been providing children and adults with care and functional living skills training for over 35 years. Their Exploring Special Arts program inspires people with special needs to find self expression through the arts and puts on the annual Special Arts Festival. This venue gives individuals opportunities to show their achievements before live audiences.
