Acadia Center is an innovative and highly impactful organization advocating for an equitable transition to clean energy in the northeast. I first became aware of them about 10 years ago. They were the first organization that I heard clearly and simply articulate the essential components of the clean energy transition: increased efficiency especially in building envelopes, appliances, and lighting; run transportation and appliances as much as possible on electricity instead of fossil fuels; and run the grid with clean sources of generation. Those concepts as a whole are well accepted now but they weren't when I first heard them. They are not well known but have advocated for clean energy policies very effectively, in coordination with other groups, with PUCs, state agencies and legislatures.

I worked for another environmental organization for many years, and worked with Acadia Center's staff on many occasions. They provide analysis that simply no one else in the advocacy community is doing; one of my colleagues referred to them as "the smart kids in the class". They have been an essential force behind energy efficiency programs in several states, and as we know, the cheapest energy is the energy we don't use. They have provided crucial organizing leadership to many coalitions of groups, including multi-state alliances to push initiatives such as the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative.

For decades, climate change has been a threat to our planet. Many groups and organizations have worked hard to inform leaders and the public that serious policies need to be enacted if the challenge of climate change is to be addressed. Acadia Center has proved itself a champion in this effort. Acadia Center reaches and connects with a broad spectrum of leaders in business, government, environment organizations, the public to recognize the need to find common ground. The Acadia Center’s success in achieving collaborations shows itself in their many projects from roadmaps for municipalities and states to helping to launch the prototype for mitigating carbon emissions through the establishment of the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative involving ten states-a major achievement.
Acadia Center is a role model for achieving objectives and understanding of how essential collaborations are along side credible information and reliable data that clearly describes the impact of climate change. Acadia Center reports are examples of respected research that influencers, the public, and others can refer to when determining solutions to climate change issues.
The impact of Acadia Center is formidable. A low budget, high quality diverse staff, clear goals and objectives have proven successful in achieving a major impact on addressing climate change. We are grateful for Acadia Center.

Acadia Center is a fantastic organization. They don't just take a dooms-day approach to climate change, but are incredibly solutions-oriented. They've been ahead of the curve on major initiatives, such as the country's first mandatory market-based program to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and modernizing power grid systems. I love that they produce reports on the efficacy of the programs they've worked on, and that their materials are easy to understand and visually pleasing. Overall, I'm impressed with their research-based approach, the quality of their work, and the successes they've advanced for our environment and communities.

Environment Northeast makes change happen. They advocate and create policy change that benefits the general population. These are bright, conscientious people who fight for us to have fewer emmissions and environmental toxins through policy change. I have followed ENE for years and would like to see them expand their work further. I do hope they get the recognition they deserve. A truly wonderful not for profit.

As a research and advocacy organization, Environment Northeast provides invaluable resources for local, state, and federal stakeholders charged with environmental policy-making decisions. ENE is a great resource for articulate and non-partisan assessments of environmental issues and challenges affecting Eastern Canada and New England states. Currently at stake are the budgetary constraints of state and local governments to continue investments in long-term energy efficiency plans. To date, ENE has proven itself a remarkably effective champion of green industry and cleaner environmental standards that will positively impact job growth and state budgets over the long-term.
