I can't emphasize enough how vital and important ACT's mission in our local community is. The services provided are invaluable to those who use them. The dedicated staff and wonderful volunteers make this organization a valuable part of recovery for clients.
I spent many hours at Act, taking the volunteer classes to become a volunteer advocate and have become an expert on all aspects of domestic violence. It has created a great experience of volunteer work that has greatly impacted my well-being and perspectives as a woman who has been there herself and that she can live a happy, fulfilling life with people that do love you head to toe and faults with a side of sadness at times. I am now happily married to the most wonderful man I could not have dreamed of . Never thought that I could get out of the deep dark hole II lived in for so long and with the knowledge that Act gave me, I was able to gain more and more strength to get myself to a good place in my life, and eventually up and out of that cold, sad world I was beaten in to. Thank you for giving me the motivation and hope with all you advocates do. Colleen, if you read this, you are one of the most beautiful people in this world!
This place is discusting.in most cases it is needed but in others like mine.my ex went in and madeup a bunch of lies.and act pushed and showed her how to manipulate the system to its fullest.she involved my two oldest boys.pot smokers car thieves and drive on the road with no license or insurance.16 and 12.they made up a rape and battery on minor charge in civil court.not in its proper place a criminal court where i would be a ble to defend myself properly.but in civil anything goes without any cross exam on kids.only in criminal do they cross exam kids.i had been filed on with no times of when took place.and this fked up court jde corbin granted a temp dv without info.this place loves scumbags .and are man haters.fu act.watch what type of people they back.youtube .our hope center animal hoarding.tell me whos abusing kids act?get the whole story.heres link. http://m.youtube.com/index?desktop_uri=%2F&gl=US#/watch?feature=friend_mobile&v=tYUpGkZ7Voc
As a recent retiree, I have been looking for a place to volunteer that I felt was truly worth my time and energy. After investigating several other options, I came across ACT. From my first contact with the organization, I felt that it was a well-run operation. After attending the mandatory training for volunteers, I was convinced of 2 things: (1) there is a great need in our community for service to women and children (and some men) living in abusive situations; (2) ACT is uniquely poised with experience and personnel to address this need. ACT has many dedicated and loyal volunteers for a reason - it is a great organization!
