Mission: To assist people with disabilities to live, work and socialize within a fully accessible community.
Programs: Community connections - the purpose of community connections is to create and support community options for people living with disabilities. The center does this by assisting individuals in developing goals, identifying dreams, and defining their vision for their life. The center also assists individuals in achieving their personal goals by making appropriate connections within the community and providing necessary information, resources, accommodations, and support. Approximately 4137 individuals benefited from these services during fiscal year 2017.
housing & advocacy srvices - housing & advocacy services consists of educational advocacy & consulting services and housing resource center services. The ability center provided housing & advocacy services to more than 343 individuals for fiscal year 2017. Educational advocacy & consulting services - the center's educational advocates are a cross-departmental team that works with students, their families, other service providers and school districts to ensure that students with disabilities get the education and services they need and require. assistance dogs - to help children and adults with disabilities achieve greater independence by training and placing srvice dogs and thrapy dogs to assist with the individual's daily needs. For fiscal year 2017 individuals were assisted by placing 14 therapy and service dogs.
