Programs: The abilene preservation league owns and maintains the swenson house, a 1910 family home located at 1742 swenson st. In abilene, texas. The league assumed control of the home in 1990 and has been working to maintain and repair this example of early 20th century prairie style and mission architecture, which has significance to the community because w. G. Swenson was involved in the creation of many early businesses in our city that contributed to its growth. Our goal is to preserve and stabilize the structure. Typical expenditures for the stabilization other than utilities include electrical system modernization and safety, masonry repair and roof repair.
