Mission: Founded in 2013, the mission of the ACHQC is to maximize the quality and value of care delivered to patients with hernias and other abdominal core diseases. Our organization includes dedicated surgeons, healthcare providers and patients who care deeply about improving outcomes and quality of life for patients with hernias and other abdominal wall conditions. We work together to study various ways to improve core health, including physical therapy, surgery using mesh and non-mesh repairs, and non-opioid post-operative pain management strategies. We collaborate with FDA and industry partners who share our commitment to support patient safety and enhance abdominal core health.

As a patient, the ACHQC mobile app, with its exercise videos and lifestyle suggestions, was a very helpful tool that my hernia surgeon suggested I use to facilitate my recovery. As a volunteer on the ACHQC's Patient Engagement & Advocacy Committee, I have been encouraged by how hernia surgeons, patients, and others on the committee work together with a common focus to explore more effective ways to improve patient outcomes. The ACHQC also offers committees, trainings, and meetings for member hernia surgeons that provide a forum for sharing best practices and ultimately in helping their patients get better with the least amount of complications.

The ACHQC provides invaluable resources to patients living with a hernia and considering surgery to repair a hernia. Additionally, it allows surgeons to track their patient clinical outcomes and improve patient care through research and education.
