We've worked with ASCZ twice now and both times were fantastic! We first used ASCZ for the adoption of our amazing and gentle black lab mix, Pepper. We were first time dog owners and Erin really listened to what we were looking for and what our lifestyle was like. She gently guided us towards Pepper as she thought it would be a really great match - and she was right. Before Pepper was transported to NJ we were put in contact with Pepper's foster mom in Texas and we were able to ask her a million questions which she patiently answered. We received pics, and videos from her as well. It all helped to build the excitement for Pepper's arrival.

The second time we worked with ASCZ was as first time fosters. We cared for the sweetest little puppy until he found his forever home. It was a pleasure to foster him and Erin made it so easy. The handoff to the puppy's new family was seamless!

I highly recommend ASCZ if you are in the market to adopt or foster a dog!

I had an incredible experience with 'A Second Chance for Ziva' when I adopted my rescue dog a year ago. The team was compassionate, supportive, and truly dedicated to finding the perfect match for both the dogs and their future families. My pup has brought so much joy and love into my life, and I am forever grateful to this wonderful organization for making it possible. Highly recommend them to anyone looking to adopt a rescue dog!

A Second Chance for Ziva is a wonderful organization. I adopted my dog Lunabelle through them and it was a great experience. Erin took the time to answer all of my questions about the rescue and about Luna before hand. She was very supportive, knowledge, and helpful. You can tell she, and the rest of the volunteers, really care about the dogs and families they serve. I would 100% recommend ASCFZ to friends looking to adopt a rescue dog in the future.

Adopter and Foster here! I could go on forever about how AMAZING this rescue is but I will do my best to keep it short and sweet. When we decided to look into adopting, we looked at and applied to several rescues with little to no success. Working with ASCZ was so different and absolutely wonderful! From the application process, to transport day, to weeks into our foster to adopt agreement, Erin was in constant contact. The rescue is so organized and efficient while also remaining deeply involved in getting to know their dogs and adopters to build the best foundation for success.

Our magical girl that we adopted probably would have been overlooked by many rescues. She is a senior, a pittie and she also showed signs of enduring a hard life, as she had been shot. The odds were truly against her. But true to their motto, ASCZ is committed to rescuing ALL dogs, regardless of breed, age, size and even injury or disability! I will forever be grateful to ASCZ for saving her. She is a beloved member of our family, and most importantly, best friend and sweetest companion to our five year old daughter.

Due to our love for our ASCZ alumni and gratitude to the rescue, we decided to foster through them as well. We opened our home in November to a foster for a few weeks until she was adopted, and we hope to do the same again in the near future. While our contribution was small, it left our hearts feeling BIG!

I truly cannot thank Erin and the rest of the INCREDIBLE Team that is ASCZ enough. The hard work and dedication that it takes to run a rescue is not something often found, and these wonderful individuals give it everything they’ve got! They are average people, with jobs, families and other commitments/responsibilities, but they still somehow, find the time to do this live saving rescue work. They have saved and changed so many lives, both dog and human and I pray they receive the support to continue to do so.

With our deepest love, gratitude and respect - Sugar’s Family

I haven't had a lot of experience with rescues before and therefore was new to most of this. The idea that my new fur baby would be coming on a van from another state seemed odd at first, until I learned how many shelters do things exactly that way, simply because there are so many dogs that need homes.

My primary contact throughout the process was Erin and she was a joy to communicate with. Very fast with updates, confirmed key details with me to make sure I knew what I was doing, followed up quickly, and was just so clearly excited for me getting this new little miracle. I have already been telling people about my experience and recommending them and will be sure to continue to do so.

My new fur baby Bruno is miracle on several levels. See, I'd gotten a new rescue only a few weeks before Bruno came home and he had a really difficult adjustment. Fozzie (Bruno's new brother) is from a puppy mill and had a ton of PTSD when he first came home. He was petrified of everything, especially me, and it broke my heart every time I would talk to him or try to pet him and he's cower at me. Then he ran away and was missing for two days before I got him back (with a lot of help from the rescue he came from). I nearly had a panic attack as I was driving to meet the van that Bruno was coming on, not knowing how Fozzie would respond and if everything was about to go completely off the rails.

Within a day- literally-one day- of Bruno coming home, Fozzie was a completely different dog. It's like me doing everything humanely possible to try to show him there was nothing to be afraid of had little to impact. But him seeing another dog NOT being afraid of anything (especially me) showed him that in a way I never could. Bruno led the way for Fozzie to overcome just about all of his fear triggers and now they're both completely loving and affectionate- both with me and each other.

So bringing Bruno home, in a way, actually gave me two dogs because I got to meet Fozzie- the real Fozzie- for the first time. And while Bruno himself is responsible for what a miracle he is, I'm still so grateful to this rescue for bringing him into my life, into Fozzie's life, and making both of us better for it.

When I first came across A Second Chance for Ziva while looking to adopt following the loss of my previous dog, I could never have imagined just what an important part of my life this amazing rescue would become. I have a chronic illness that affects my energy and causes physical and cognitive issues, so I knew that while I had a lot I could offer a dog, I also would need to find a dog who would be content with a quieter, slower-paced life. What set A Second Chance for Ziva apart from so many of the other rescues I looked into was their obvious compassion both for the dogs AND the humans involved in the adoption process—talking to Erin I really felt like she valued me as an adopter despite my disability and would do her utmost to help me just as she would to help the dogs in her care. In fact, I was so impressed by the way Erin and A Second Chance for Ziva operated that I decided to hold off on adopting and foster for them instead, which I have been doing for the last two and a half years. The longer I am involved, the more impressed I have become by Erin and all of the other ASCZ volunteers for their dedication and their compassion. Erin continues to go above and beyond to place dogs with me whose needs I can meet (older dogs, lower-energy dogs). She is also amazing about providing continuing support for her fosters and her adopters; she is always available if an issue arises with the dog and she encourages fosters to give detailed feedback on the dog’s personality and progress so that they can be matched with the right adopter. ASCZ’s emphasis on communication and support is, I believe, the secret to their success rate in finding the perfect home for the dogs in their care. The best part of fostering for ASCZ is having complete faith that my foster dog is going to be adopted by the best home to give them a long and happy life.

I can't even express how grateful I am to A Second Chance for Ziva. In March 2024, I was so lucky to become a dog mom! Afterwards, I reached out to the president of the organization to express my gratitude and ask if there was any way I could help out and give back. She and the rest of the team welcomed me with open arms! I've been working with the organization since May, and it truly feels like a family. I've never met a more passionate group of individuals.

We are so grateful to A Second Chance for Ziva for bringing our sweet girl, Okie, into our lives. She has been the biggest blessing, filling our home with joy and love. This organization truly cares and is making a difference every day.

One of the things we love most about ASCZ is that it is a foster-based rescue. This means that dogs are always placed in a loving foster home until they find their forever home. It is led by a passionate group of people who strive every day to achieve the organization's mission. We can't thank them enough for the happiness they have brought us through Okie. I highly recommend this amazing organization!

What an amazing experience! From the moment I connected with Erin to learn about Sandi (later to be Penny) who I found on Petfinder all the way though adoption day I can't rave enough about how wonderful an experience it was adopting my 4th dog and first with ASCZ Dog Rescue. Professional from the start, Erin followed up on all of my references and conducted a very thorough interview - Erin runs one of the most professional rescue organizations I have experienced. Caring to ensure the adopted dog is the right fit is only the start of the adoption process. Erin's above and beyond communication continues when she provides information about the dog, it's health, personality, food preferences, and any concerns right up front, so there is nothing hidden on rescue day. Rescue day is a nervous, for both dog and humans but Erin is there to ensure the adoption goes smooth and ensures you follow up once home.

I am an adopter, a foster and someone that helps them with their marketing. I love this rescue because they are focused on finding the right homes for the dogs and have an amazing success rate. They have such amazing clientele and volunteers. They are well organized, have a true focus on animals and have a good volunteer structure. We found this rescue to help us with some found animals 3 years ago and have currently fostered 19 more that have gone on to have amazing lives. I also had a foster fail because I found the dog that was meant to be with me...
