This review is in response to "justno".

I personally speak to this animal rescue and the partnering pet supplies plus that you are referring to and also know the kittens that you are insinuating will be at the store forever.

What you have typed in your review is not accurate.

The rescue said that they checked all their emails, text messages and applications for the month of March, and nothing came up with anyone trying to adopt 2 kittens from that store location.
And you never filled out the standard online application, so how could you even be disgruntled regarding the process when you didn't start the process?

The store employees and management along with the poster printed sign, all point to a completed application (first come first serve) a text messaging phone (not a vm phone) and a secondary contact of an email address to conntect to, along with the listed website.

According to the animal rescue administration, adoptions coordinator, store volunteers, nothing in writing about your interest in 2 of the kittens was ever sent in.
If you were reaching a vm and not getting a response, it's possibly because the process is "application, text and email".

According to the rescue, no applications had been received for those kittens at the time of your complaint.

You say that you are professionals, then why post an "unmerited one sided review"?

I saw the rescues reply to email them to talk, have you done that? Maybe they never received anything from you? Maybe when the cell phone service shut down recently affecting thousands, maybe they were one of them?
Did you fill out the application like the sign and website read?
In doing so, that's how they say they can assure that each application is received in a timely order.

I dont know ... something just seems off regarding your reveiw (justno, justdoesntseemright).
And the donations you said "that those are all that they care about?
Are you talking about the same store?

The store has an area in the front with 4 different 18x18x18 bins (if even that large) and they are collecting animal food and animal supplies in those bins that are divided to 4 different rescues.

No where on the bins or in the store is a place for cash, check or charge donating.
Those bins are not for cash checks or any money for that matter and they are weekly divided up with 4 different organizations, the store management knows that.
Professionally speaking, I would think that you would ask the store about their policy regarding those animal rescue donations before posting "mis leading information" that's simply not accurate.

I'm just surprised that you would put the words "professionals" while filling out a review that isn't even factual.

To anyone reading this review that might be thinking about reading the review "justno".

"Justdont"

Do yourself a favor and don't even waste your time reading it, because it's already been verified as "non factual".

And to "great not for profits", "justtakeitdown", because it's verified "justnottrue".
Thank you and "justsad", that people would give a poor review when they didn't even follow the detailed outline and advise for the organizations adoption process

I included an adoptions event photo of them from their social media site ...
This is the same store that the complaint came from, can you see those baskets on the table?

Those are free raffle basket giveaways from that stores donations (products valued up to $150)
By the way, the raffle tickets were free!

This is one of the best animal rescues, without a doubt!

They personally care about each and every animal and take the time to assure the safety of their animals by working through the best possible home applications for long term placement of each animal.

This animal rescues focus is to their animals, which should be the #1 priority of every animal rescue and state run animal shelter.

Promised land's team is loving, caring and experienced in animal placement wellcare and helpful to the community in giving out of their incoming donations to anyone in need and they do so on a daily weekly regular basis.

Thank you A promised land animal rescue team!
And thank you to all the partners and stores that work together for the best possible outcome of the animals.

Keep up the good work!

This place should be CLOSED. They love getting donations but don’t want to adopt out their pets. Outrageously personal questions on their application, and they want to send a STRANGER to your house to assess whether you pass muster. Are we allowed to background check those people, and charge them for it ? Call them and their mailbox is full. My husband and I are professional people with a long history of rescuing dogs and cats, providing great care and veterinary care … and we couldn’t even get our foot in the door while 4 kittens at Pet Supplies Plus will probably never get adopted because this “animal rescue” is too busy collecting donations to line its own pocket.

We apologize for your experience of not being able to get a hold of us to speak about your concerns. There are times when the phone calls for people seeking help to surrender animals and even adopters or just generalized questions hit a peak in volume, past the capacity of the voicemail and our ability to speak to everyone. We do always suggest you fill out an application so that we can make sure to save your place in line for the animal you seek to adopt. As far as any personal questions on the application. Our application asks basic questions that mirror all other animal rescue and shelters who adopt out animals. We do home delivery after application approval. We do make sure the animal being adopted is going to the address on the application. We do not just ring our kitties through a register to ensure the application actually matches the actual situation. All donations go directly into vetting and supplies for the animals we help. We would love to speak with you. Please email us.

You will be hard pressed to find others as dedicated and giving of their time and resources as Sonia, Crystal and the other volunteers and fosters that are a part of A Promised Land.
Please multiply my stars by a factor of 1000. We donate every month to this worthwhile effort and encourage anyone to donate if they can, even $5 a month will go a long way if enough people do it. So far they have helped us rescue and find homes for at least 9 furbabies we took from our street, here are some of the rescues

Promised Land Animal Rescue Is truly such an amazing rescue/business! They treat all there animals like family and with such compassionate and outstanding care. They have helped me in so many ways. Blessing and providing us with food and litter and collars , some toys ect when I or a family/friend was broke or going through a hard time to afford those things for our animals. They have been super patient with me and has taken a stray kitten from me that I was struggling to care for. They adopted her out and she got a loving home! I love their donating and rescuing process and how they truly care going above and beyond to make sure their animals go to loving homes and saving so many animals lives! They truly are a blessing and a great team. I am so thankful that this rescue is apart of my , my family’s and friends lives and I highly recommend this rescue to be apart of your lives too!

If I could give 7 stars, I would! A Promised Land Animal Rescue is an amazing, one of kind nonprofit rescue- They have set a standard for animal rescue and what it truly should look like and what it’s about. No animal left behind, always going above and beyond caregiving over animals and genuinely caring about people as well. They really stepped up and whole heartedly said, “YES” when God called them to this.
I have been on the receiving end of both food and medical expense help for my precious fur babies. I have also had the wonderful blessing of adopting from them. Currently, I volunteer and foster for A Promised Land as well. As a person who has seen their work from the outside and also, being a part of their team, I can honestly and confidently say, this rescue walks in excellence and integrity. They do as they say and say what they do, always putting the animals best interest first. They don’t make any money, but freely with a cheerful heart they passionately dedicate not only their time but their lives to providing the very best care for the animals and assisting communities near and far throughout several counties in Florida.

Thank goodness for this God-send of an animal rescue because we’ve been blessed with amazing pets throughout seasons of our lives within the last couple of years! We fostered the best puppy, Mufasa, a few years back and ended up adopting 3 pups, Maggie, Princess and Gordita after our senior pittie passed away. This rescue has been great with everything from the very beginning of it all to present times. This rescue is also extremely generous with donations for pet supplies and food. Sonia and Crystal are amazing individuals and run this rescue successfully with hearts that don’t grow cold. It’s hard to find a trustworthy rescue with trustworthy individuals that truly go above and beyond within their means. Anyone that comes across them should consider themselves blessed!

I have volunteered, fostered, adopted several cats and dogs from this rescue. I've done TNR for several communities and have been doing this for over 12 years. I volunteer at several petcos for A Promised Land and have done so for about 10 years. Do you have to call the number if you want to adopt? You could but the easiest way is to go to the website & fill out an application. Once the adoption manager screens the apps, she sets up meet and greets, does vet checks, landlord checks if you rent and does a thorough background check for possible red flags. They are a reputable, caring, loving organization that's in it only for the animals. I will never understand why folks find the need to "bad mouth" and tear down a good organization. I go to petco and other places I volunteer every 24hrs. Are the cats out of water sometimes? Yes. They drink it. I know there are a lot of animal lovers that want to do what's right for them but there are some that feel the need to take to social media and try to tear down a truly caring, wonderful organization and I'll never understand why. Look around. There are plenty of homeless, unwanted, unloved furbabies looking for someone to save them. Unfortunately there's plenty to go around. If everyone did their part, together we could save them all. Here is one of the babies I've adopted from A Promised Land. Maggie. I tried to add other pics but it said the files were too big! One dog, Minnie needed her eye removed. A Promised Land helped cover the cost, and that was 5yrs after I adopted her. Great people, loving hearts, great organization!

This organization is God send. They care for their pets as if it were their own. I had the privilege of volunteering for them. A lot goes on in the back end, they are up at all different hours of the day rescuing these poor fur babies from all kinds of circumstances. These animals get cared for, are neutered, up to date on their shots, and absolutely loved on. Their animal’s safety and well being always comes first. I appreciate and respect the adopting process that they have. I absolutely love Crystal and Sonia and the rest of the crew. Thank you for being such an honest and safe place for these animals to be until they find their forever home! This organization is truly rare to come by.

Hard working animal supporters and rescuers!

I am writing this review due to the more recent negative reviews.

Anyone who knows or who has worked with this rescue, also knows that these negative write ups are unproven and just not factual.

I'm surprised that this website would not require verified posts only to be posted.

Either way, I will always support the work that this rescue does.

Im not sure if this is a good or bad organization but I did just see one of their very sweet cats Magda in a cage at Petco on Westshore, one of their adoption sites. The cat was unattended, had no water in her bowl and barely any food. There was no one there to take care of her. And if you want to adopt you have to call a number…which I did and no one answered or called me back. The employees at Petco said the Promised Land animal rescue is a separate entity-in other words they aren’t really responsible and can’t do the adoption if they wanted to. I asked them to please give her water. They did…but it was very disturbing to think no one was looking after that poor cat which was the only animal there on this holiday weekend. Who knows how long she will be left alone there. Seems like animal cruelty:

Thank you Natasha for checking on our Magda. She actually was adopted to a lovely couple a few days after our director spent over an hour on the phone with you and thought you were acting as a caring citizen and wanting to adopt her. Never in that conversation was this review, the call to corporate, or animal control mentioned. We are grateful that you brought the empty bowl to the managers attention. Magda loves to play in water and actually it was found that their was a crack in her bowl. So again her needing water and your attention to that is commended. Thankfully I was there 2 hours after this incident to verify everything was ok with her. I can assure you that the cats and kittens welfare is ours and Petco's highest concern. We partner for this reason and they actually log every time we visit the store to care for the animals daily. A one time visit and overall conclusion that stemmed from a isolated incident, you not being able to walkout with a cat on spot, seems unwarranted

This was one of the worst experiences I ever had with trying to adopt a pet! I have been a pet owner for years. I have always feed the neighborhood cats. Never have I felt in my journey of caring for my pets that I was not giving them the love and care they needed. This company made me feel that way. They give you a hard time trying to adopt and I get it. These animals need to be in a safe loving place but from the first minute of my conversation Crystal was drilling me. She offered me the pet then out of nowhere she was trying to find every reason to deny me taking this kitten home. It saddens me because she can be denying these animals a really great loving home. I even accepted them to come and visit my home but that still wasn't enough.

COURTESY STORY ( Diane Dill ) ...........I have been fostering cats and kittens for A Promised Land Animal Rescue for about 8 months now. I had6 cats of my own when I began this wonderful, yet so hard, experience of fostering. I would always tell myself that I had plenty of cats already and that I simply could not adopt any more into my home.So much for that idea! In mid-May, Sonia from A Promised Land, called and asked if I could foster two kitten siblings. They were very small and terribly undernourished. "Ofcourse" I said, "Bring them over". When I opened the carrier, out came two tiny little fur balls. They could fit in the palm of my hand.Neither kitten weighed even a pound. The little boy was a ginger and his sister was a torbie, that wonderful cross between a tortoiseshell and a tabby. As the torbie girl came out of the carrier, he looked up at me and placed her tiny paw on my foot. That small move created an instant connection, and I knew she had claimed me. I knew then and there that this wee little kitten had found her forever home. All foster parents understand the words "foster fail", but I will never consider her a fail, only a win/win.I named her Rue McCatahan, and she has fit into my household seamlessly. My tortie kitty, Daisy instantly adopted her as well, grooming her and teaching her the various ways of being a cat. Rue has enriched my life in so many ways; she has shown me how to face difficulties with a fierce determinationthat only a cat can do. She taught me to be confident, even if I am unsure. She taught me to never giveup, that help is there if you just ask for it. And last, but not least, she reminded me of the unconditional love all my kitties give me. I will be forever reminded of these things every time I look into the eyes of this wonderful kitten.

I've owned Groomingdales Bed & Biscuit in Tampa almost 30 yrs .
I met Sonia & Crystal of A Promised Land Animal Rescue approximately 4 yrs. ago , they were just getting started in rescue & wanted information about temporary boarding at my kennel for pets in high kill shelters that would be euthanized if they ran out of time/space & a foster home wasnt available in time .
I have continued to work with them over past 4 years & am amazed at how they have grown & branched out to help so many pets & people involved with food , medical supplies , fostering , courtesy posting , assisting in rehoming etc... so people may not have to surrender their pets at all or to high kill shelters . These ladies work full time jobs & every minute outside that is dedicated phone calls , emails , home checks,
Meet & greets with potential adopters , 4 different location kitty kios in pet supply stores , vet visits , networking for foods , supplies from vendors & personally care for over 20 animals in their homes dailey .
I dont know when they ever rest .
I have worked with many rescue groups over the years & have to say Promise Land is one of the most dedicated & have goals of acquiring a multi acre property for saving as many pets as possible with structured programs for vetting , training , senior pets sancuary or any pets that never find a furever home for any reason will be loved & cared for for life , plus community/ school / prison / assisted living / hospice /childrens homes , for comforting therapy & outreach educational presentations on importance of spay & neuter , proper care & handling etc...
Would love to see their visions come true for all their hard work & compassion for the animals & people involved with them.
They would be a tremendous asset to our community & help resolve issues that plague our animal welfare programs .

I had the pleasure of working with this amazing rescue when trying to rehome a kitty that had been abandoned by his owner and left to fend for himself. One of the volunteers offered to take the kitty and put him in a kiosk at Petco so someone would adopt him. Unlike a lot of the other rescues I dealt with, she kept her word and we met at Petco. I could tell she was an outstanding person and that the rescue was obviously a good one. Pepper was immediately comfortable in the kiosk and started playing with his new toys so he was obviously comfortable. The kitty, Pepper, got adopted in one day and is loving his new family! I've been given updates on how he is doing and he is doing great. I could not ask for a better rescue and better experience. These people are the nicest people and clearly love animals a lot. They adopt animals out quickly but carefully since they do thorough home checks. This is one of the best and most helpful rescues you will find and I highly suggest adopting from them and donating :)

I truly love and support this rescue whole-heartedly! They have such huge hearts and a genuine passion for saving the lives of animals, assisting owners of fur kids who have fallen on hard times and helping the rescue community as a whole by doing whatever they can (educating, networking, donating food, supplies and time to whoever needs it and SO much more.) They never stop and are always on the go! This is an amazing, hardworking group of people who are truly know the meaning of and are dedicated to rescue! I have helped Sonia & Crystal a couple times - once with getting a Parvo dog treatment (owners couldn't afford) and once picking up a rescued dog from a kill shelter. These ladies work hard every day to do it right for the dogs they have rescued, all while they both work regular jobs. They & others involved are truly heroes for abandoned, stray, & mistreated dogs. If you can donate to these folks, I can assure you the money will be used wisely for the dogs.
