Results: A Little Help is currently providing services and social programming to over 1,000 older adults with the help of over 2,000 background-checked and trained community volunteers. We have grown to serve in three Locations throughout Colorado and continue to expand our impact and geographic footprint to bring this model to more communities in need. In response to COVID-19, we have streamlined services to provide doorstep delivery of groceries and medications, essential errands, regular social care calls, outdoor yard chores and shoveling, and creative, remote/distanced social programming with safety protocols in place to keep our older adults and volunteers safe.
Target demographics: older neighbors in Colorado
Direct beneficiaries per year: Nearly 1,000 members and engaged over 2,000 community volunteers of all ages.
Geographic areas served: A Little Help serves in three Locations throughout the state- Metro Denver, Northern Colorado, and the Roaring Fork Valley.
Programs: A Little Help connects neighbors to help older adults thrive. ALH empowers older Coloradans to age well in their own homes and communities through programs and services including transportation to medical appointments, assistance with grocery shopping, minor home repairs, technology troubleshooting, home and yard chores, snow shoveling, and friendly walks, visits, and calls. For requests beyond our volunteers’ capacity, we maintain a referral system with vetted service providers such as handymen and women, landscapers, tailors, home repair and modification specialists, home health care practitioners, and interior cleaning professionals. We also plan an array of social and educational activities, in order to foster intergenerational connections, combat isolation and loneliness, and engage neighbors of every age in intentional community.
