I am Frank F. I recently started volunteering my time and donating with A Light Of SonShine, I am very please to see an organization that puts everything back into helping families with young children. All the staff and board members have had similar situations in life and have needed help themselves. So we understand what it means to be hungry and alone. Please at this special time of year remember that hunger last beyond the holidays and many people need our help and support.
Thank you Hunger Fighter

It’s wonderful to see so many people respond to the issues of hunger and homelessness who obviously care not only about themselves but for the lives and welfare of the homeless people in our communities. I applaud you.

I also want to recognize the men and women who work so tirelessly to ensure we keep our program going day after day to serve the community. Our dedicated Executive Director Eli Sheth and his staff, as well as my fellow board members and you, are the supporting pillars of this organization.

No organization could function without its supporting pillars. We could have the most donations and food in the world, but without the men and women to carry out our mission or someone to manage the organization, how effective would we be. This is true of all organizations, if we don’t have the manpower or proper leadership these services would never make it to the people we intended to help.

Before I go any further, I would also like to thank our Donors, Volunteers and the continued support from Fresh and Easy. I especially want to thank Store Director Erica and her wonderful Team. These pillars of our strength are what make the program successful.

These last few years have certainly been trying times. But no matter how difficult life gets; no matter how many roadblocks get thrown our way, we cannot give up on anyone. When people are in trouble, they turn to friends who become their lifeline. I think it’s important to draw our attention to the ongoing humanitarian efforts of fighting hunger and homelessness.

As we embark on a new year, let us all continue to work together to ensure that our organization and others like us are around to continue the fight and serve the people. I give you my promise we will continue the fight against hunger and homelessness.

Thank you for your time. I look forward to serving A Light Of SonShine in the coming years and appreciate your continuous commitment to our organization and movement.

John Chan, Chairman & Co-Executive Director

Working with my family to get this organization started has been a great experience. I remember the first time I went with John to bring food to the homeless in Venice, CA. There were so many people that were out on the streets with no place to go besides the awning of a store closed for the night. The sidewalk beneath the awning was full of old sleeping bags and people sleeping with all their belongings as close to them as possible. It was heartbreaking and sobering. A few years before we started this we were having tough times ourselves. It wasn't until recently that I realized how close we came to living like the people I saw in Venice that night. Once we were able to stabilize our own lives we decided it was time to help someone else and A Light of Sonshine was the result. All the support we have received so far has been a blessing. Every inkling of assistance we get pushes us to help provide a better future for others. Every inkling of assistance we get shows us how much others care. Every inkling of assistance we get gives us the will to continue up our path. I would like to thank everyone for their time and support.

Hi! My name is Pastor Laura I have been with A Light Of SonShine since its inception over 4 years ago. I am an ordained minister and have spent some time pastoring a non-denominational Biblically based church. I am honored to work with the great volunteers we have, they always go over and above expectations and out of their way to help. Our volunteers are the most valuable asset that makes this program work. With the support of Fresh and Easy Alhambra and our donors, we can continue the work set before us. To serve the homeless people, elderly and families in need. I conclude by saying thank you to everyone involved for their continued support. God Bless.

This is Zac, I have been working with A Light of Sonshine since our family decided it was a necessity. There have been many occasions taking food to locations around Los Angeles where my heart has been touched. While we may get any number of strange responses to our helping hands, the strangeness is dwarfed by gratitude. There are few things in this world more moving than seeing someone's expression get brighter because they have a sandwich and a bottle of water. One of those few things is my daughter Emily, and I hope she will be proud of her family when she grows older. Working with several volunteers, and sitting in front of Pavilions or Vons collecting donations with our volunteers is a way to feel in-tune with the entire program. Thanks everybody.

How it all started…..
It started by Eli making his deliveries at the location in VR Apartment, Pasadena at the beginning month of September 2012. The on-site manager approved “A Light of Sonshine” deliveries. It is stated that “timing is everything.”.

Your organization has helped most senior citizen as well as disabled residences in the 61 unit community. We are very grateful for the time, energy, and strength you (Johnny and Eli) and your volunteers (Kimmy, Renee, Ron) help provide to the VR Apartment community. Although economic times have been tough for everyone concerned; again, we are very GRATEFUL your organization exist to help feed Los Angeles.

Let’s hope and pray that your non-profit organization continues to flourish for all of Angelenos.

Thanks from the bottom of our hearts. Your organization have made a differences in peoples lives.

*P.S. Also our heartfelt THANKS to Fresh & Easy management whom donated their produce.

The issues of hunger and homelessness are still a growing problem in our great nation. Although there are several organizations that try to address this issue, A Light of Sonshine, since it's inception about 5 years ago has been a beacon of hope for the city of Los Angeles. Under Eli Sheth's vision, their cause has served many families in their time of need 24/7 with food/beverages. Hundreds of families have benefited from their kindness, including mine. Thanks Eli and continue the great cause "Feed the City" Christopher - The Smith Family

What a humbling and challenging role to be given, to lead the charge to end hunger and homelessness. Working with A Light of SonShine also known as Feed The City and together with our Chairman John Chan, fellow board members and volunteers, I have seen firsthand what a positive impact and difference Feed The City has made in the community. I am confident this organization will grow and continue to make a positive impact and difference with the continued support from our donors. We will continue to expand the organizations mission by developing programs to further our purpose. As a ward of the Court I had firsthand experience and have seen many hardships growing up in Los Angeles. I have seen in my lifetime so many people especially women and children in the streets hungry and struggling to stay alive day after day. Through it all I always held in my heart a deep desire to help and assist people in need. I am committed to making a difference because at one time I was someone that was in need and hungry and now it has directed me to where my life is today. I am honored to be a part of A light of SonShine to lead the fight against hunger and homelessness. Thank you. Eli Sheth, Executive Director

Hi my name is Ron, I met Mr. Eli Sheth Executive Director of Feed The City two years ago on the streets of skidrow in downtown Los Angeles. It was during Christmas time, I was hungry, cold, sad and was tuned out of this world. He reached out to me and tried to help me that night, but I refused. For the next three months, every Saturday night he would ask me how I was doing and if I was hungry. Eventually we became friends and started speaking and he offered to take me off the streets. His family invited me into their home and into their hearts. That was only two years ago, but it seems like a life time away. I am well now and I enjoyed giving my time to the organization to pay it forward and help others. A Light Of SonShine is hoping to open a rescue mission in the very near future to accommodate more people and help them transition back into the community.

I have volunteered with A Light Of SonShine aka Feed The City in Venice Beach to feed and clothe the homeless along the board walk. Feed The City has never run out of food or water which is wonderful. I have volunteered with The SonShineCrew team since 2009. I recently became homeless and with no where to turn, I ask them for help and they were there to assist me. I am now very active with Feed The City and serve the homeless every week in Downtown Los Angeles (corner of Cesar Chavez and Spring street). I currently volunteer all my free time with A Light Of SonShine, great organization!
