Mission: Future Without Poverty is a non-profit organization that was born through the realization that handouts were not enough to fight poverty. Simply making donations is not sufficient. Instead, sustainable opportunities are needed to adequately fight poverty. “The Myth of No Effect” is the belief that one person cannot make a difference. Future Without Poverty seeks to break this myth by showing that each person can make a difference in our global community. Working together, we can give everyone the opportunity to have a future without poverty.

I worked with A Future Without Poverty for about two years. During this time I was able to witness the international impact that this organization has on impoverished people. I will never forget the smiles of people we helped or what it looks like when people truly collaborate to get things done. These experiences not only touched my heart, but also helped to improve my own life and my capacity to be an advocate for disadvantaged people everywhere. I have used what I learned with A Future Without Poverty as a second grade teacher in a Title 1 school, and I believe I am a better teacher because of the skills and knowledge I gained with this agency. It really is a Great Nonprofit.

In my experience working for non-profit organizations to fight poverty and other injustices in developing countries, I believe Future Without Poverty is the most effective in their vision and focus to end poverty. Their work has played a significant role in helping make a difference in poor communities; the activities performed by this non-profit are the kind that we need all non-profits to do in order to truly move forward toward this cause.

Working with A Future Without Poverty as a MSSW student helped guide me on a path of future international social work and music. I'm forever grateful for the experiences that helped to change me and show me more of the harsh realities of poverty and the creative ways to work towards positive change.

I'm glad that there is organization's of volunteering people that care about helping out the less fortunate people. This organization is serious and is real. You can have trust that your donations are going to get to the hands of the people in need. I'm hoping that one day poverty will disappear and that people will have the minimum necessary to live worthily.

I first worked with FWOP as a volunteer/student at the University of North Texas. We were working on a water project for a rural village under support from Rotary International. It was a great project, working along side of the local community.

We started our long treacherous walk to Flor del Campo or as the locals called, "The village that God forgot.", not knowing what to expect. What we found were huts with dirt floors (during the rainy season the dirt floors became disease infested standing muddy waters), no electricity, no road to village, and poverty had split the majority of the families. A Future Without Poverty believes everyone should have the opportunity to have a future without poverty, what they do with the opportunity is up to them. A Future Without Poverty along with Flor del Campo residents devised a community renewal plan. The plan included bringing in electricity, concrete floors in all their huts, and creating jobs without shifting poverty. A Future Without Poverty defines the practice of closing factories in the US to move to another country is simply shifting poverty. Away from the community that the factory is moving to and shifting to the US community it left behind. The Mexican government, the Jalisco state government, the Mazamitla local government, business leaders, volunteers from eleven countries, and residents from the "Viillage that God forgot" completed the plan. What was also amazing was that all the family members that had left Flor del Campo to the USA in order to help their families combat poverty returned home. The families were reunited. Children that had not seen their fathers in years, finally got them home.

This is a totally volunteer organization that has impacted communities in countries around the world. A simple concept of collecting knowledgeable individuals to work for local community groups that are willing and able to create the local leadership needed to reduce the pain and suffering caused by poverty by helping local leaders to take responsibility for creating a sustainable economic and environmentally sound projects to create jobs and improve community health.
