We worked with several agencies over the last few decades, and a doggy4 u was the best. The communication was clear and responsive, and they did everything they said they would do. In fact, we ended up paying extra money to have her delivered sooner, and they ended up, crediting us that money when we were not expecting it. When we took her to our veterinarian, she was very impressed with the care and quality of the veterinarian care she received in Texas

We would highly recommend them.

Most importantly, Dory our new 3 year old pug is now part of our family. We are very grateful, here is a picture with Dory and her brother Ollie who is a nine-year-old pug

We were introduced to our now adopted puppy Dolly when she was just 5 weeks old. Apparently found by a dumpster. We took her home at 8 wks as a foster because she was too young to meet all of the requirements of being spayed and the rabies shot. They worked with us on the timing of the surgery. The adoption fee included the surgery, the rabies shot, and being chipped. This rescue cares greatly for their animals and is reasonable with their adoption fee. Our Dolly is now an 8 month old poodle mix and 13 lbs compared to the 4 lb puppy we initially brought home. She is sweet, intelligent, easy to train, and we will love her through her entire life.

A Doggie 4 You in Pipe creek, TX, is fantastic. I was afraid that I would be depressed after seeing all the dogs in kennels. But they all had companions, the kennels were clean, the dogs all looked healthy and well cared for. It was so nice to see that they all had buddies to play with. As far as the dogs I adopted, I couldn't be happier. They are so wonderful and chill. They are attached at the hip. It is so fun to watch them do everything together. Their shots were all up to date. They were clean and happy. I am so happy that I adopted my furbabies and thank God for Carolyn and Pat. They are angels on earth.

There is no question they the “why” for Pat and her team is to save all the innocent animals they can from cruelty and sad situations. There cannot be another rescue that is as dedicated to the well-being of the dogs they take in, both physically and socially. The go to extreme lengths to be sure that all the dogs are placed in appropriate forever homes and will be loved and have any care they need. We adopted our Tatum from Pat in 2017 and am proud to tell anyone who will listen what an amazing rescue this is. I try to volunteer to help out when I can because this is the real deal - A Doggie 4 You existing for the animals and they are put first at all times. If anyone out there is looking for a dog, you should check this rescue.

Patricia and her crew are the most caring rescue group I have been around and I vow to sing their praises forever. When it's time to put their animals in the loving arms of their forever homes, you can bet they have managed to do the best they can do to perform that transition in a loving, caring and thoughtful manner, sending a little bit of their heart with each and every one of them.

Hands down, A Doggie 4 You is my favorite rescue group around. God bless their caring hearts.

A Doggie for You has personally taken the time a their resources to help me help find a loving home for a stray husky that followed me home from a walk. After learning more about their mission I got more involved and started fostering. Fostering for a Doggie for You is very rewarding because I know they take the time needed to make sure every dog goes to the correct family. A Doggie for You organization has a love for animals that goes beyond explanation. As far as rescues they are the heart and soul example of how and why rescues exsist!

I was introduced to A Doggie 4 You when a stray husky followed my dog and me home from a walk. That husky, Atlas, needed a home that I couldn't provide. A Doggie 4 You agreed to sponsor him as my foster. They are so helpful as well as knowledgeable with dogs. I have since gone on and fostered Hamilton, Gabby, Howie, and Nina. A Doggie 4 You was there when I was looking for a dog 7 years ago. I contacted them when I read that they had found schnauzer puppies in a trash can. I wanted a girl, but they were all boys. Shortly after that on a Sunday, they called me. They told me they were headed to a shelter in Gonzales. A schnauzer rescue group had asked them to go and pick up a 4 month old female schnauzer mix. This shelter euthanized dogs on Sunday. They had agreed to open their doors for A Doggie 4 You so that they could rescue Schotzie from dying that day. They called me and asked if I wanted her. I said yes. They saved Schotzie, kept her quarantined for 4 weeks, and then I adopted her. I loved that girl from the start and we had almost 7 years together. I lost Schotzie to Cancer this March. I called A Doggie for You again. This time I adopted 2 puppies, Moxie and Willie. They saved me from a broken heart. I am forever grateful to this organization for the work that they do. They save both doggie and human lives.

This rescue drove to another town on a Sunday to rescue my girl. She was 4 months old and on death row. She was to be euthanized that day! The rescue got a call from another rescue that was full and was asked to go get her. On the way, they called me and asked if I would adopt her since they knew I was looking for a Schnauzer. They sent me a photo and I was delighted to say yes. This rescue then kept my girl for 4 weeks to make sure she was healthy, trained, and ready to come home. She has been the center of my world ever since. I have continued to follow A Doggie 4 You on Facebook and have seen the often difficult and extreme measures they take to save a dog. They work tirelessly to save the world, one dog at a time. They celebrate their victories and weep over their losses. They stand up for dogs when they see a need. I think they are amazing.

While scrolling through Facebook late one night, I stumbled across the post for Tucker. After losing our dog of 10 years almost 3 years ago - and with nudging from our 5 year old - we were finally ready. The only request from her was she wanted a dog to play fetch with. First thing in the morning I filled out the application and we waited for the call. I was sure that he would have dozens of applications and he would go into another house. But luckily our application was approved (which they do a thorough job of reviewing, including verifying vet references) and he is now a member of our family! He is the perfect combination of lap dog and "fetcher" dog (as she calls him). We are so thankful to Pat for trusting us to be his forever family!

A Doggie 4 You is one of, if not THE best dog rescue organization in the greater San Antonio area. My family and I adopted our now 8 year old dachshund-Yorkie mix in 2016 from A Doggie 4 You and our lives changed for the better! Our dog was well taken care of at the non-profit. He came to us fully vetted, neutered, potty trained, and house trained! Since then, this organization has also graciously taken in several stray dog rescues I personally found. They were also given great care and found safe, forever homes! My family and I trust Pat G. and A Doggie 4 You and we are grateful for all they do for dogs and families.

I adopted my two little gremlins, Coco & Francis, in 2020. Their mom was found wandering the streets and AD4Y picked her up, found mom and all the babies a forever home.

In addition to picking me to be these babies mom I’m eternally thankful to them because when I came across a doggo that was being “rehomed for free” I knew I wanted to help the dog but also knew I’d need a rescues resources.

I reached out to the rescue and they took care of fully vetting a doggo in need while I fostered her and the rescue did the work to finding her a loving home.

Pat Godkin is the owner of a doggie for you rescue. I met her when I was trying to find a dog for My 90 year old senior many years ago. Most rescues will not allow adoptions to someone that old. Pat said that she would be willing to give it a try and if it didn't work out that she would definitely take the dog back. After my senior passed away, I ended up with a sweet little dog. What I like about a doggie for you rescue is that they not only make sure the dogs are healthy to be adopted but they are also also trained.. My family has adopted about 5 dogs from her rescue. They have all been Great additions to our family. If you want to I adopt a dog from the best rescue out there have no doubt that Pat will make sure you get the right dog. Before reading further, if you are thinking of adopting a furry friend and have come across my review, the gist is that you should look no further and get in touch with Pat, TODAY, to see if one her dogs are right for you! I was willing to drive out to Pipe Creek, TX (about 40 mins. northwest of San Antonio) all the way from Florida (!), on my way to a business trip in Austin, and it was 100% worth it.
I am writing this review a few months after my adoption experience with Pat and her Rescue, to give a full account of my experience with her and how my adoption has turned out. After a few months with my new dog, I can confirm, without any reservation, that Pat is a seasoned professional at helping rescue dogs find great homes; and my experience with her, the Rescue, and the adoption process was nothing short of amazing from start to finish.

This was my first time adopting a dog for my own family, and Pat has been fantastic from the moment I got in touch with her to this very day; she treated me like family. She can sound at time a bit too terse or “to the point” in her style of speaking at times, but do NOT let that think that she is a cold person that is standoffish. Pat is, in fact, sweet, generous with her time, and has a big heart; not to mention that she has been rescuing dogs forever, a seasoned veteran.

My dog apparently had been left behind due to his owner dying, tragically. However, Pat was able to restore him to his calm and sweet personality, and place him in a wonderful foster family near the shelter with John and his wife. Whatever love and care both Pat and John’s family gave to my dog, it restored his joy and sweet personality. He is exactly the energy level, temperament, and lifestyle match that Pat advertised on the shelter’s website, including all his quirks and cute silly habits as well. Pat and her foster volunteers were very detailed in describing to me how my dog will behave; that keen sense of empathy, I’m sure, comes from decades of experience with these rescue dogs. This I believe is rare and unique compared to just going to the local shelter / pound, to take a huge risk with potentially wrong information about what your dog will be like. My dog has turned out to be 100% exactly how he was described before the adoption. In fact, he is even better (in term of his personality) than she advertised. He’s perfect on the leash, great with all kind of animals, very smart, calm, well-mannered, and sweet with people of all ages. Wow! Compare that with a shelter that doesn’t even know the breed of the dog and is taking a wild guess on its behaviors.

Of course, Pat and her foster volunteers made sure that the dog was gentle, house trained, potty trained, leash trained, and 100% adjusted for life as a companion pet. My dog (after nearly 3 months) has never been aggressive, been an absolute joy to walk with, go anywhere, because he is so well-behaved! This is something that is hard to know when you deal with a normal rescue or the pound; but because of Pat’s experience she made sure that my dog was fully trained and ready to live with a new owner successfully, without the extra hassles of having to retrain the dog. I recall Pat saying to me that she would not put up a dog for adoption if it did have enough training to be a good pet for the right owner and have good manners. I took her at her word at the time; after a few months, she turned out to be 100% right, my dog definitely was taken great care of by Pat and John’s family.

Before I even went to pick up my dog, I asked both Pat and John’s family (the foster parents) a bunch of questions about my dog. They were super open, responded promptly, and, in general, were very positive about me wanting to engage with them via phone and text. Everyone was very straightforward, honest, and really thorough in answering my questions about the Rescue organization and the dog. You can tell that they genuinely want you to have all the information you need to make sure the dog is the right fit for YOUR personality, your needs, wants, and lifestyle. What impressed me that won my trust with Pat’s Rescue was the fact that in my first phone call with her, she took the time to explain the potential issues with the dog and the dog’s background/history, to make sure that there would be no surprises. Also she made sure that I knew, if the dog was NOT right for me, that I could return him to the Rescue and the money would be refunded. It was obvious to me that she wanted to make sure BOTH the dog and adopters would be happy; she was not trying to pressure me, exaggerate the positives, or get rid of the dog to an ignorant person. I could tell that Pat really was doing her Rescue work for the right reason; wanting both the dogs and humans to be happy. Like I said before, she has a big heart! Furthermore, I had to cancel my trip and reschedule my pick up for the dog several times; everybody at the Rescue were completely understanding of my situation and were very accommodating, in terms of rescheduling our in person meeting. When driving into town, they were in touch with me via phone to make sure that I arrived safely and get clear directions to find them.

The shelter is a bit out of the way (it’s in a very rural setting) in the northwestern hills beyond San Antonio, TX. It is quite a bit of a drive to it, but the scenery is wonderful, feels like the Italian countryside. Also there is a wonderful camping, cabin, RV resort called, Al’s Hideaway run by Gordon and his family, right across the street from Pat’s Rescue. Pat actually referred me to Gordon’s resort for my stay; and it was an awesome place to relax and enjoy the Texan hillside! The shelter itself is on a huge piece of property, at least I would estimate 1.5 acres of open field. The dogs are kept under a roof in a ventilated outdoor area, that is well-constructed and fenced in. There were a lot of them, but they all seemed to have enough space to roam around and seemed to be in a well-kept facility. My dog was in a different private property in a foster home, however, the shelter dogs seemed to be in a place that is humanely managed and clean for a shelter with that many dogs. There was a lot of barking, due to the sheer number of dogs at the shelter. But that’s to be expected at any shelter facility.

I first met with the foster family at John’s place where my dog was having a great time with a few other dogs chasing deer and squirrels, when I pulled up the driveway. We had a great conversation, the paperwork was straightforward, everything was prepared in advance for me to adopt my dog, including all the medical records in an organized folder. Also, John was very kind to actually provide some food and treats for my trip back home with my dog. Pat also gave me my dog’s former crate, collar, a leash, and blankets for him to feel comfortable on the way home! She also let me walk my dog on the shelter’s grounds over the course of two days, for him to get familiar with me in a setting that he’s used to; that helped us start to form that new bond.

Unfortunately, in the very first week, when I returned from my trip to Texas, my dog had some health problems. I called up John and Pat; they were willing to answer my questions about what to do to make him feel better. Being so experienced, Pat was able to give clear instructions on how to help him get better, and he did! Pat was very generous with her time when I called her; she was available and willing to help me with my dog’s transition into his new home. Obviously she does not have to do that, but Pat has a big heart and experience to boot. You’re in great hands if you are a first time dog owner (like myself); she will be probably be available to guide you through some of the tough challenges that are bound to happen. Pat and her fosters are highly experienced, very kind, and will be there for you to make sure that the adoption is a happy success. That has been my personal experience. My dog has a much more wonderful personality than advertised, he is very healthy for his age, and Pat has been a total professional throughout the whole process (and beyond!).

If you have any hesitations or you are thinking about adopting a dog, look no further! It’s worth it to drive from out of state to get a dog from A Doggie 4 You. Pat’s rescue organization is a fantastic choice. She will make sure that you get the dog that will make you happy.

We found out about A Doggie 4 You (10th Life Surgical Center) when we rescued a momma dog and her three pups who were starving near the campground we were staying at in San Antonio.
We were so impressed by Pat and her staff when we dropped the rescues off in her care that my daughters and I volunteered there for the next week that we were in town.
They do a wonderful job of caring for the animals and finding them homes and we plan on going back to the San Antonio area just to spend a week or two helping at A Doggie 4 You.

This rescue means a lot to me. Whenever I call on them to rescue a stray, they never say no. We are in the same county and our shelter is not the best. I am proud to say that our Bandera County has wonderful animal rescues. A Doggie 4 You and 10th Life Surgical Center has saved so many fur babies that people gave up on.

The doggie we adopted from A Doggie 4 You is the best part of our life!!! They found her about to pop with eight puppies. She had them right after they rescued her. We adopted the momma. She and the babies had such excellent care and so much love. This rescue works so so hard to help any dogs they can become healthy and find loving homes. They truly care about each and every animal that comes to them.

After losing our fur baby, we went on a hunt to find another rat terrier. Completing an application, we found a cutie on line with A Doggie For U. We drove over three hours to adopt our Jacque. We went for Johnnie but his brother was selected…..what a wonderful rescue dog he was become. Our veterinarian was highly impressed with the documentation that came with Jacque and we love keeping up with the wonderful other adoptions.

I am so thankful for this rescue. I adopted my dog, Hadley, in April of 2020. She was surrendered by owner with her siblings but was a happy, peppy girl while living at the rescue. Each pet is treated with love and care. The staff works tirelessly to save pets in need and to get them ready for a loving home. They take so many dogs in need into their rescue- they deserve all the help possible!

I’ve volunteered at adoption events and have seen first hand the love and care this team puts into giving every animal a second chance, which is why I donate as often as I can. Because I know they go above and beyond to help even the toughest of rescue cases. Their patience, determination and hard work are a blessing to the animals in need in and around our community.
