I spent a week in Sembalun, Lombok Indonesia volunteering through 4th World Love. I was quite unsure as to what to expect. However, I can confidently say that during my month spent in Indonesia, this was the best week of them all! The people I met there made the whole experience unforgettable. I spent time teaching english in local schools and had amazing experiences with the children there, learning about their culture and seeing their way of life. The local staff of 4th world love went far beyond helping with the english classes. They taught us Indonesian cooking, took us to local markets, even introduced us to farmers who laughingly let us participate in the rice planting of their fields. In the evenings, I taught english to the most enthusiastic group of students I've ever encountered. They gave up their time to come learn as much as they possibly could. Being able to get to know them and to spend time with them was amazing. I would highly recommend this volunteer trip to anyone who appreciates international cultural experiences. I feel I not only made a positive difference in Sembalun but know that they positively changed my life as well!
