Good on 350.org for pushing a greener future. This organisation is unfortunately extreme in it's actions which results in a less than optimum impact. While an all-renewable world would be great, it is not possible to reach that goal fast enough. At least not if you're thinking 2 degrees. 350.org is yet another green sham that pretends that by making extreme-enough demands we will therefore reach our goals faster. The science presented on their website is pre-selected in order to support this charity's request for "pure" yet sub-optimal demands.
As an example, celebrating the stoppage of William's 18km pipeline (NESEE) is likely to first delay the delivery of cheap heat to those who need it most. Until this 100% renewable objective is reached, we will instead continue to burn more coal, and/or pay more for electricity and heat!
Sometimes I wonder if we are not paying twice! One donation for 350.org, and one donation to our electricity/heat utility.
Please find greater aspirational goals than blocking an 18km pipeline !
350.org engages in innovative, hard-hitting, intelligent global advocacy and activism to address climate change. Led by visionary Bill McKibbin, the staff at 350.org is passionate and untiring in their work to change policy and shift public opinion to be in line with the scientific understanding of the problem. In a sentence, 350.org is fighting to ensure that our grandchildren will be able to live and play on the planet we love.
350.org is addressing climate change, the # 1 issue facing our planet, in a profoundly innovative, efficient, transparent, and inclusive manner. Bill McKibben, the guiding spirit behind 350.org, has devoted himself to this cause with tremendous humility and selflessness. This organization deserves all the support we can give it.
