Mission: The mission of Malashock Dance is to provide transformational experiences through the creation, performance, and teaching of dance that fire the imagination and celebrate the human spirit.
Programs: The primary purpose of Malashock Dance is to create and present innovative dance works that communicate, challenge, entertain, and encourage new forms of personal expression. Malashock Dance now has a consistent season with bi-annual Company performances and plans programming several years in advance. This has enabled the organization to capitalize on unexpected opportunities and prepare for unanticipated challenges. Fall is now home to Malashock/RAW, a gritty, provocative evening of dance that incorporates other artistic voices; and every spring John Malashock will produce a major artistic collaboration. In April, 2011, Malashock Dance will present The Floating World in collaboration with the San Diego Museum of Art in conjunction with their exhibit of Japanese Woodblock Prints; and in spring 2012 will present its newest project, Chagall. John Malashock is partnering with internationally renowned composer Yale Strom to create a highly imaginative dance/theater piece based on the life, work and relationships of iconic artist Marc Chagall.
